Jimmie Saleme, Jr.

January 4, 1940 - August 26, 2021

Jimmie Saleme Jr., 81, of Bronson, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Christus Saint Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin.

Jim was born on January 4, 1940, in Beaumont, where he grew up. After graduating from South Park High School, in Beaumont, he went to Lamar University. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1963 and honorably discharged in 1965.

Jim lived in Houston and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston in 1974. He worked as a mechanical engineer and draftsman.  Jim owned a couple businesses and worked for the United States Postal Service. He lived a full and rewarding life. Jim loved to tell stories about his time in the Army. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Brenda and going to Mass at the Catholic Church, until health problems kept him at home. Not one to complain, he enjoyed watching Golf, Sports, and Movies. Jim also loved spending time with all of his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Brenda Roberts Saleme; sons, David Saleme and his wife, Tammi, of Columbus, Ohio, and Michael Saleme and his wife, Shelly, of Houston; stepsons, Troy Dwayne Roberts and his wife, Carol of Zwolle, Louisiana; and Brandon Roberts and his wife Monica of Broaddus; grandchildren, Emily Saleme, Ryan Saleme, Grant Saleme, Logan Saleme, Billy Roberts, Kevin Rivers, Kyle Roberts, and Makenna Roberts; nephew, Paul Vanek and his wife, Linda; Niece, Patricia Vanek; special friend Tom Sterling and his wife, Carolyn; numerous cousins, relatives and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Saleme and Edna Marie Wheeler Saleme and his sister, Carol Sue Saleme.

A graveside service for Mr. Saleme will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine Street, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
