Jimmy Duane Whisenant

January 16, 2020 - February 22, 2022

Our precious Jimmy Duane Whisenant was born January 16, 2020. He was instantly a part of our family and we wondered how we ever made it without him before he came along.  He had the cutest smile you’ve ever seen, and a twinkle in his eyes like no other.    No one can forget those gorgeous ringlets of hair that everyone envied.  He wasn’t a big talker yet.  He would grab his Poppy by the finger and pull him wherever he wanted him to go.  And Poppy would always follow to see what he wanted. Jimmy was very smart. If one person didn’t open a piece of candy for him, he went around the room until someone did.  And if you were lucky enough to get a hug it might not include his arms wrapping around you…he would just kind of lean into you but it was still perfect.

He adored his mommy and lit up when he saw her.  He was just as anxious to go back home with her as he was when his Poppy would go to pick him up. He looked up to his Big Brother Taydan.   He wanted to do everything just like Taydan did.  He wanted to be playing basketball with Taydan at his practice and thought he belonged out there.  His special buddy was Jardell Elam.  They hit if off instantly and loved each other tremendously.  When Lollie coaxed a kiss out of him it was a big loud MUAH. His Lollie loved it when she got to pick him up from school and to watch his face when he saw her at the door.  He wasn’t very fond of diaper changes, but he usually was more than agreeable to naptime and bedtime.   No child has ever been easier to put to bed at night than he was.   He loved playing with all his cousins and extended family at large family gatherings.  Sometimes the little girl cousins irritated him or I should say he loved to irritate the girl cousins.  He had taken swimming lessons already and was scheduled for them this summer. He loved putting his face in the water.   He was always a happy baby, always smiling, and he LOVED to dance.

Jimmy was named after his beloved Great Grandmother, Jimmie Linda Whisenant and their love for each other was obvious.  If he was asked if he wanted to go see his Papa, Lowell Duane Whisenant (where he got his middle name from), he was running to the door before you finished asking him.   His Poppy, Troy Duane Whisenant also shared his middle name.  He enjoyed golf cart rides with his grandparents and cousins.

A special thank you to MET Early Head Start in Kountze who provided him a loving home during school hours.  He had just started saying ”bye” some days to all the teachers there.  All of whom loved him and he loved them… as he ran toward the door at the end of the day.

We wish to lift him up in celebration today, and we know how lucky we were to have him for 2 amazing years.   Words ofter seem so small but, our family wants to thank all our friends and extended family for the love and support that has been shown to us during this time.

Survivors include his mom, Tayla Whisenant; brother, Taydan Whisenant; grandparents, Lisa and Troy Whisenant, Sr.; great-grandparents, Jimmie Linda and Lowell Whisenant of Village Mills and Wanda and Chuck Bievenue of Nederland; aunt, Tarra Millican and her family of Lumberton; uncles, Troy Whisenant,, Jr. and his family of Groves, Wyatt Martin and his family of Village Mills, Ely Whisenant of Village Mills, and Travis Kessel of Orangefield; great-aunts, Tina Hubbard and her husband, Larry, of Spring, and Barbara Bienvenue of Beaumont; great-uncles, Clay Whisenant and his wife, Kristi, of Village Mills; special friends of the family, Jardell Elam and daughter, Zharia; and multiple loving cousins, who were his best friends.

I can’t imagine what your family is going through at this time. However, I just lost the person I loved most in this world, my mother. I got through it by the grace of God and He has truly given me peace. I pray for your family and ask the Holy Spirit to surround you all with His comfort and love as we all know your child in now in the arms of Jesus. God loves you all

I am deeply sorry for your loss. It is not supposed to happen this way and although I cannot possibly feel what you are feeling I will have you in my thoughts and prayers.

Charley, thank you for the kind words you posted. It brings us comfort knowing we are in your thoughts and prayers. Though this void in our hearts will never be filled, knowing we have the support of you and everyone else helps us move forward.
