Jo Ann Kirkpatrick
Jo Ann P. Kirkpatrick, 88, of Silsbee, died Wednesday, December 21, 2022. She was born on December 11, 1934, in Fayette, Mississippi, to Wyllma B. Phillips and J.L. Phillips.
Her family moved to Denton after she completed high school. Jo Ann graduated from North Texas State University in Denton and began her teaching career in the primary grades.
Survivors include her brother, Jimmy Phillips and his wife, Pam, of Lopez Island, Washington; stepson, Allen Kirkpatrick and his wife, Lisa, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; grandchild, Emily Montgomery and her husband, Nick, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; great-grandchild, Pythagoras Montgomery; nephew, John Phillips of Lopez Island, Washington; sister-in-law, Katy Newsom of Nacogdoches; and numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of forty-three years, George P. “Pete” Kirkpatrick, Jr.; and sister, Caroline Phillips.
The family extends their gratitude to Marla Taylor, Angela Palmer, and Nancy and Jerry Lee Lewis for their special care and kindness.
Cremation arrangements were handled by Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. A private committal was held at Antioch Cemetery, Buna.

I have known Jo Ann for over 50 years. She taught school in Mesquite, Tx. with my mother. We became very good friends.
My daughter and I would visit them in Silsbee many summers. We had a great time with JoAnn and Pete . Many memories were made with them.
I could pick up the phone and talk to JoAnn for hours. I will miss her sweet listening ear. She was a true friend. I already miss her and have tears in my eyes as I write this. Love you JoAnn!????????
We always enjoyed “Pete” and Jo Ann. So sorry to hear of her passing. She was beautiful inside and out with a wonderful smile. May she rest in peace and light perpetual shine upon her.
Mrs Kirkpatrick was my favorite teacher. Always kind. She will be missed for sure.
I still have the coin (silver dollar) she gave me for my graduation. She remembered me all through my school years even though she taught me 1st grade. Very amazing.
