Jo Ann Widner

Jo Ann Widner, 88, of Beaumont, died Friday, May 20, 2022, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on April 19, 1934, to Verline L. McCowen Burford and Willie Jerome Burford, in Beaumont.

Jo Ann enjoyed puzzles, crafts, junking for treasures, roller-skating, bowling, ice skating, snowtubing, and Elvis. She was very good at singing, playing piano, and drawing. Jo Ann was known to throw raw eggs at Bret and Drew at Easter. She was the best mom and always had a smile on her face.

Survivors include her sons, Richard W. Haley and Joel S. Haley, both of Lumberton and Lee A. Widner of Beaumont; daughters, Beth A. Howland of Kountze and Amy K. Widner of Vidor; grandchildren, Edward Wayne Haley of Lumberton, Bret L. Howland of Warren, Drew T. Widner of Beaumont, and Baylee A. Norsworthy of Silsbee; and great-grandchildren, Edward W. Haley II, Alexis G. Haley, and Crocket G. Howland.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Therman Wayne Haley and Fred W. Widner, Jr.

A gathering of Mrs. Widner’s family and friends will begin at 10:30 a.m., with her graveside service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Magnolia Cemetery, 2291 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

    I always looked up to Jo Ann with awe. As Judy said, she was such a beautiful, joyful person, inside and out. I hadn’t seen her lately, but I’ll miss just knowing she was here. My love and heartfelt sympathies to all the Burford family, We love you all!
