JoAnne Wilson Collmar

JoAnne (Palumbo) Wilson Collmar, 87, of League City, died Saturday, August 21, 2021. She was born on June 14, 1934, in Beaumont, to Phyllis Marie Sachitano Palumbo and Anthony “Tony” Joseph Palumbo.

JoAnne was a cradle Catholic and belonged to St. Anthony Church as well as St. Anthony School from 1st-12th grade. She loved music and especially loved the Piano. She would accompany the students on piano in performances/plays but like to stay behind the curtain. Her father, Tony owned Mr. Hot Dog Stand, and her mother, Phyllis made all the Chili. JoAnne spent many days eating there and doing some work! JoAnne loved spelling, writing, poems, and won the American Legion Award in High School. She met Pat Wilson while at school. They were married on June 2, 1956, and soon moved to Germany while Pat was in the Army. Their first daughter Karen was born there. They returned to the states where son Jimmy was born in 1958 in Beaumont. Brief move to LA also brought the birth of daughter, Kim. Back to Beaumont with three children in two and a half years kept JoAnne a busy mother and wife for many years. She still loved piano and taught lessons. She loved to go dancing with Pat and their dance group. Bridge was one of her favorite pastimes. She achieved her goal of becoming an American Contract Bridge League Life Master. Church was always of the utmost importance, and St Anne’s was where the family spent about twelve years. Moving again in 1971 to Ohio for two years, the family lived in North Olmstead and in Lima. On to Seabrook, Texas, and St Paul’s church in Nassau Bay for four years. Once again, the oil business brought them back to Beaumont and St Jude’s Church where they spent about twelve years. JoAnne had family in the golden triangle area, so it was like being home again. Holiday gatherings, October Birthday Fest, Family Reunions were all a time to gather with family and enjoy music, singing, talking, and sharing. In the late 80’s another job changes for Pat, and JoAnne and he moved to Arlington, Texas. Most Blessed Sacrament was their church for the next thirty years. She was very involved with the many ministries there. She loved the “Come Home Ministry” especially. She also enjoyed the many lifelong friends she made through the church. A few years after Pat died, she remarried to Butch. They had a wonderful time together, and now there were more family members for her to love. She loved cheering on the Cowboys and the Rangers and liked going to the games! She took up tap dancing. Loved to walk every day and loved to go to lunch with her friends. She loved being a part of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s lives. She loved Bible Study and Jesus. Her last move three years ago was to League City. There she continued to spread the word of Jesus to everyone she could in the retirement community. She continued her bible study, enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was blessed with a great life; she was loved by her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Karen Chappell and her husband, Doug, of Kemah and Kim Marsh and her husband, Dan, of Gilbertsville, Kentucky; son, Jim Wilson and his wife, Sharon, of Bryan; sisters, Carol Aaron, of Hemphill and Rosalie Babin, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Kara Parada; Chase Crawford and his wife Cristina; Katie Marsh; Kenny Marsh and his wife, Ashley; Amy Waddell and her husband, Allen; Patrick Wilson and his wife, Stephanie; and Kathleen Curnutt and her husband Dan; great-grandchildren, Mateo Crawford, Anabel Parada, Ross Wilson, John Wilson, Samson Marsh, Jax Waddell, Keian Waddell; many nieces and nephews and great nieces & great nephews; step children, Dennis Collmar, Jeff Collmar, Diane Zundel and her husband, Rick; and many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of forty-three years, Pat Wilson; and husband of twelve years, Butch Collmar.

A gathering of Mrs. Collmar’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2021, with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2021, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Ave, Beaumont. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 30, 2021, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont.
