Joe Reyes, Sr.
Joe Reyes, Sr., 92, of Beaumont, died Saturday, April 16, 2022. He was born on November 24, 1929, in Beaumont, to Soccorro Alviar and Ventura Reyes.
Joe was very active in fast pitch softball. He retired from Standard Alloys, and later worked and retired from Giglio Distributing.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-nine years, Gloria Reyes; daughters, Olga “Ann” Reyes, and Yolanda Arredondo and her husband, Andrew; daughter-in-law, Nancy Reyes; grandchildren, Erica Orta and her spouse, Pierre “Lucky” Bordelon; Amanda Die; Rudy Orta and his wife, Dulce; Danica Selkirk and her husband, Scott; Aaron Arredondo and his wife, Katie; Abel Arredondo and his wife, Ashley; Adam Arredondo and his wife, Valerie; and Joey Reyes III and his wife, Janice; fifteen great-grandchildren, with one on the way; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Johnny Reyes, Rosie Solis, Pilar Newman, Hope Enriquez, Jessie Reyes, Chris Reyes, Raymond Reyes, Ortence Cowles, and Polly Varela; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Joe “Joey” Reyes, Jr.; and siblings, Matti Cardenas; Connie Clark; Rufus Reyes; and Robert Reyes.
Memorial contributions for Mr. Reyes may be made to Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 4445 Avenue A, Beaumont, Texas 77705.
A gathering of Mr. Reyes family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., with his Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 4445 Avenue A, Beaumont. His interment, with Military Honors, will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.

I met Joe when he formed a fast pitch softball team. I am so sorry to learn of his passing. The whole Reyes family are great people. I played on his team for four or five years. That was a great time in my life. Joe will surely be missed. Prayers for Mrs Reyes and all of the Reyes family. Rest In Peace Joe.
I would meet with joe in port arthur after work and he and I would have a few cool ones and talk sports and try and solve the worlds problems I enjoyed being around him he will be missed by all
I grew up with Joey Jr. , And spent many hours playing sandlot baseball across the street from Mr. & Mrs. Reyes house. Mr. Reyes was always supportive of Joey and all his friends for our love of baseball ….so much so that when we grew out of sandlot, Mr. Reyes formed a fast pitch softball team on which Joey, and many of his friends, including myself played for a number of years. Mr. Reyes was one of the finest men I ever knew.

My condolences to the Reyes family as we knew them n would run into to him n his team at most of the tourneys. His teams were always competitive n he truly was a class act and a fine gentleman. One of the nicest guys we ever met along with his lovely wife as they always had a kind word for everyone they made friends with. n there were plenty of people that also held him in high esteem. I was saddened by hearing of his passing n Will pray for him n his familia during this difficult time. May you forever Rest In Peace, Mr Reyes.
