John Gilbert "Click" Caudillo

November 2, 1935 - February 9, 2021

John “Click” Gilbert Caudillo, 85, of Beaumont, Texas, died on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.

Click was born on November 2, 1935 in Doucette, Texas.  He graduated from Beaumont High School in 1954.  After graduation, he worked for Edwards News Company as a salesman until he was drafted by the Army in 1958.  He was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and was assigned to the 2nd Howitzer Battalion, 13th Artillery, in the U.S. Army for two years, which was immediately followed by Army Reserves for 4 years.  He was very proud of his service in the Army, always proudly wearing his veteran’s hat.  After his military service, Click returned to Edwards News Company and, in 1970, went to work with Mandel Kahn as a route salesman.  He continued with Mandel Kahn until 1992 and then worked with Jack’s as a route salesman until he “retired” in 1997.  Immediately after his retirement, Click quickly decided he was not ready to retire.  He joined Market Basket on a part-time basis for 22 years until his official retirement in 2019.

In 1971, he married Jeanette and they were blessed with two boys, Ramon and Larry.  Click was very proud of his sons, always encouraging them to work hard in school and athletics.  He would always find time to visit with friends and family and was known to enjoy a cold Coors Light.  Later, when he became a grandfather, he loved to hear about his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events.

Click is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jeanette Caudillo; brother Robert Caudillo of Beaumont; son Larry Caudillo and daughter-in-law Joanna Caudillo of Houston; grandsons Anthony and Matthew Caudillo and granddaughter Isabella Caudillo of Houston; and 22 nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his son Ramon Caudillo, his parents Jesse and Felipa Caudillo, and his sisters Adeline Tristan and Josephine Rodriguez.

A Rosary for Click will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont, with a gathering of family and friends to follow until 8:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 22, 2021, at St. Anthony’s Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont with his interment, with military honors, to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Beaumont.
