John J. Knott
John J. Knott of Beaumont, Texas, formally of Refugio, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the age of 55. He was born on September 27, 1969, in San Antonio to John and Gladys (Flieller) Knott. John graduated from Refugio High School in 1988 and was a proud member of the Refugio Bobcat football team and the Bobcat track and field team. He attended Texas A&M University where he graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1992. He earned his master’s degree in environmental engineering from Texas A&I University, Kingsville, Texas. John was a Project Manager for Jacobs Engineering Inc.
John’s first love was his family. In 2004, he married the love of his life, Mercedes. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children, Joseph and Olivia. John was a devoted father and spent many hours watching Joseph play soccer. You could always find John and Joseph watching soccer and football games on their TV, computer, or phones. If the game was not going well, you could hear it. John enjoyed watching Olivia cheer and dance, and he was so proud to see her shine on the stage.
John is survived by his wife of 21 years, Mercedes; his son, Joseph; daughter, Olivia; his mother, Gladys Knott of Refugio; his sister, Lisa Williams (Ronnie) also of Refugio; his in-laws, Enrique and Maria Delgado of Puerto Rico; sisters-in-law, Mariangie Farias (Bernardo) of Florida, Lourdes Delgado-Lecároz (Carlos Olivencia) of Puerto Rico and Rosario Delgado-Lecároz (Eric Brockett) of Massachusetts; and many other family members and friends that loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Knott, Jr.
A gathering of Mr. Knott’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
An additional gathering will begin at 5:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2025, at Moore Funeral Home, 402 South Alamo Street, Refugio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, 1008 South Alamo Street, Refugio. His interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Refugio.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Knott, Gary Wright, Glen Butler, Blake Stovall, Colin Tompkins, Clark Scott, Andy O’Pry, and Willie Mack Garza. Honorary Pallbearers are Hernando Ramos, Van Greer, Sean McKenzie, Joe Fontana, Carlos Olivencia, Bernardo Farias, Eric Brockett, Ronnie Williams, Scott Thompson, and Darren Thompson.
