John (Johnny) Laird

September 7, 1941 - May 1, 2026

John (Johnny) Laird passed away on May 1, 2026, in Smyrna, Tennessee. He was born on September 7, 1941 in Beaumont, Texas, the son of John Laird and Daisy (Laird) Alford.

Johnny graduated from Beaumont High School in 1960. He played baseball as an outfielder all four years of high school. He was a member of the Beaumont High 1959 State Championship team and was selected All State that year as well as the following year. Johnny attended Sam Houston State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1965.

Johnny married Doris Aldredge on June 18,1966. They were happily married for 56 years before her passing in 2023. He worked for Texaco Refinery in Port Arthur in the Product Control Lab for over 30 years.

Johnny loved playing golf with friends from work and family. He also loved traveling and visiting new places. Johnny was a loving husband but especially cherished his two daughters. He also delighted in spending time with his four grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Aldredge) Laird and his younger brother, Robert Laird. Surviving is his daughter, Stacy Palumbo and her husband, John Palumbo, of Nolensville, Tennessee, along with their children Jordan Palumbo of Nashville, Tennessee and Jackson Palumbo and his wife, Chloe Palumbo, of Nolensville, Tennessee; daughter, Robin Leger and her husband, Todd Leger, of Sharps Chapel, Tennessee; and their children, Blakelyn Leger of Conway, South Carolina and Gillian Leger of Columbia, South Carolina.

A gathering of Mr. Laird’s family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His graveside service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont.

    John and worked together at Product Control at Texaco INC . We played golf together for years we had many laugh and good time , we played many courses in the area. One story I will tell is John and Doris was playing golf and came up on some cute girls and John introduced him and Doris as his sister so Doris told John to get back in the cart you old fool !!! Thanks John for all the golfing good times !!!!

We spent many hours sharing about our lives before coming to Texaco Lab. My blessings & prayers are for his family. I know he I now at Home.
