John M. Guidry

November 19, 1939 - July 4, 2024

John M. Guidry passed away peacefully at Cascades Skilled Nursing Facility on July 4, 2024, with his wife, Irleen at his side. John was born in Vidor, Tx on November 19, 1939, to Russell John and Mamie Evelyn Kilpatrick Guidry.

John spent most of his childhood in the Beaumont area and during high school he met and fell in love with his lifelong sweetheart, Irleen. They married immediately following John’s Navy bootcamp in 1957 and were blessed with 67 beautiful years together.

After joining the U.S. Navy, at the young age of 17, John served on the USS Randolph Aircraft Carrier and multiple transport aircraft including the C-130 Hercules as a flight engineer. After 20 years of service, he retired from the military as a Chief Petty Officer and then worked as an auto technician at Toyota dealerships in Beaumont for the following 20 years.

John was a loving husband, father, and “PawPaw.” He was a family man whose greatest joys were sharing stories, watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow, and watching old westerns. He was a Master Mason with the Masonic Grand Lodge of Beeville, Texas and also enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time at his camp at Dam B.

John is survived by his wife Irleen, his son Raymond Guidry and wife Gay of Port Neches, Seven Grandchildren, David Hilliard, Reese Guidry, Johnna Guidry, Chelsea McBrien and her husband Michael, Brandi Guidry Mitchell and her husband Danny, Aaron Klepper and Daniel Bowen. Seven Great Grand Children, Beaux and Autumn Mitchell, Brooks and Stella Guidry, Molly Cournyea, Everly and Ellanore McBrien. He is also survived by numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins. John was preceded in death by his parents Russell John Guidry and Mamie Evelyn Kilpatrick, Sisters: Mary Hargraves, Minnie Faye Turnipseed, and Betty McKinzie, Children: Renee Louise, Russell John, and Rhonda Lavonne.

A gathering of Mr. Guidry’s family and friends will be from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland, Texas. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

Mr. Guidry’s inurnment will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston.
