John Patrick “Pat” McKernan

April 5, 1946 - March 10, 2025

John Patrick “Pat” McKernan, 78, of Beaumont, died Monday, March 10, 2025. He was born on  April 5, 1946, in Liberal, Kansas, to Mary “Jean” Wilkerson and James Robert “Bob” McKernan.

Pat was a proud graduate of Skellytown/White Deer High School and Texas Tech University. He was a PE and RPLS for over 40 years and retired from Fluor. He was a proud 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member out of Liberal, Kansas. Pat’s greatest accomplishment was the relationships he had with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Georgia McKernan, his sister, Judy Franks; children, Chris McKernan and his wife, Melissa, of Hamshire; Shannon Gibson of Dayton; and John McKernan II of Longview; grandchildren, Brandon Fulford; Bryan McKernan and his wife, Brittany; Mathew McKernan and his wife, Arorra; Cheyenne Gonzalez and her husband, Ryan; Bailey Cook and her husband, Stanley; Dallas Gibson; and Shannon Force and her husband, A.J.; great-grandchildren, Wyatt McKernan, Lily McKernan, Ryan Gonzalez, Elaina Gonzalez, Maddison Stitch, Mallarie Stitch and Stephen Force.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Jean McKernan and his brothers, James Robert (Jim Bob) McKernan and Jennings McKernan.

Cremation arrangements for Mr. McKernan were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

    Pat was one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. I was always impressed by his devotion to his wife and family and his kindness to other people. He was a role model for me to follow and I will always be in his debt for what he taught me. We love you and Georgia and you will always be in our prayers.
