John Richard Jeffers

John Richard Jeffers, 84, of Kountze, died Monday, April 20, 2026. He was born on December 29, 1941, in Ocampo, Mexico, to Francis Humphers Jeffers and John Duke Jeffers. He was a Unites States Marine Corps veteran, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam.

Survivors include his sisters, Francis Davis of Mesa, Arizona and Mary Jo Hogan of Beaumont; nieces, Linda Sharp, Elizabeth Wilson, and Cynthia Terrell; nephews, Keith Davis, William Tinney, and Jeffrey Canales.  He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ida Mae Jeffers; sisters, Jane Tinney and Clara Canales; nephew, Joe Henry Canales, Sr.; and nieces, Maureen Gonzales, Deborah Yrle, and Phylis Canales.

A graveside service will be at 2:15 p.m., Monday, May 4, 2026, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, under the direction of Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.
