John Riedmueller

April 4, 1938 - January 7, 2025

John Joseph “Sonny” Riedmueller was born on April 4, 1938, to John Mathias and Rose Marie Riedmueller; the oldest of five children. He was blessed with 86 years of life.

As a boy John was very tall for his age. His mother would have to send a note with him to the movie theater so he could get children’s pricing. This trend continued throughout high school with his basketball team nicknaming him “Roo” Riedmueller for his height and ability to jump. While attending Lamar University, John was set up on a blind date where he met the love of his life, Shirley Logan. John always said he was the luckiest guy in the world. They were blessed with sixty-six years of marriage and four children of whom he was immensely proud.

He was extremely active in his community and church. John was the founder and CEO of Crown Pipe Shops, Inc. He served as President of the Cardinal Club, Sabine Area Pipe Fabricators, and St. Anne Catholic School Board. He was on numerous Board of Directors including the BPM Club, Beaumont Country Club, Lamar Foundation, Christus Foundation, Pipe Fabricators Institute, West End YMCA, St. Anne Catholic Church, St, Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, and the Montclare Homeowner’s Association. John was a founding member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church and a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre.

In retirement he enjoyed traveling with Shirley, his weekly golf games with his “Chokers” golf crew, the fellowship of his Profits Unlimited meetings and Dun Workin luncheons. He was most proud of his family and cherished every moment they shared together.

John is survived by his wife, Shirley Logan Riedmueller; children, Kelly Riley (Mike) of Conroe; Christy Major (Robert) of Humble; Russ Riedmueller (Nicole) of Nashville, TN; and Kerry Daigre (Kent) of Kingwood; siblings, Tommy Riedmueller of Portland, OR; Phyllis Smith (Bill) of Orange; and Gerald Riedmueller of Nederland; grandchildren, Lindsey Green, Logan League, Austin Major, Tyler Green, Ryan Riedmueller, Catie Hickman, Mark Riedmueller, Grace Daigre, and Cade Riedmueller; and seven great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of one’s choice.

A gathering of Mr. Riedmueller’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m., Monday, January 13, 2025, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A private family graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

Oh, Shirley, I’m so sorry. It seems like only yesterday that we shared our neighborhood and our lives. Although I never knew Sonny well, the fact that you loved him made him a King in my mind.
I know the weight of missing, and I also know that love does not end with loss. My heart is with you as you move forward. I would love to see you when I’m in Beaumont next. I’ll give you a call, I think Mo gave me your number. Hugs to your wonderful children.

Thirty plus year’s working for a man that treated me like a son, always had an open ear to listen when I share something with him and would give me advice that always line up with wisdom!
So when I heard about him going to be with Jesus, I felt a sting within for a second, But than I realize he was with Jesus face to face and heard good and faithful servant, enter in!

To my cousins , Kelly, Russ, Christie, Cary, and my Aunt Shirley. That the Lord Jesus would bring comfort to your hearts, that only He can bring, knowing your dad is with The King of Kings, Jesus, his Lord & Savior, full of love, joy and Gods Glory. And Lord , if you will , tell Sonny, we are still running our race & we will see him in a while.. Lord bless…

To Mrs. Reidmuller, Russ and the rest of the family, my sympathies on your loss. Mr. John was a good man, hard at times, but stern with great character, my dad has told me many stories of him, and I had the pleasure as well to have worked for him. He will be greatly missed but remembered by everyone that had the opportunity to meet him, again with sincerest condolences to each of his family.
