John Robert Nowasky

December 15, 1926 - May 12, 2023

John Robert Nowasky, 96, of Silsbee, died Friday, May 12, 2023, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.  Robert was born on December 15, 1926, in Deweyville, Texas, to Allie Mae Perkins Nowasky and John Roman Nowasky.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during World War II and later attended Stephen F. Austin College.

Robert played professional baseball for several years in the Texas and Evangeline Leagues.  He retired from Dupont Sabine River Works in Orange, in the Energy Control Department, after thirty-three years and was a long-time member of Apostolic Church in Beaumont.

Survivors include his wife of seventy-one years, Dorothy Nowasky; son, Nathan Nowasky and his wife, Jan, of Plano, Texas; grandsons, Brandon Nowasky of Portland, Oregon and Alex Nowasky and his wife, Karen, of Liverpool, United Kingdom; and sister, Ann Neuman of Orange, Texas.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of Robert’s family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2023, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His interment will follow at R.S. Farmer Cemetery, Silsbee.
