John Robert Reese, Jr.

September 8, 1976 - February 20, 2026

John Robert Reese, Jr., 49, of Nederland, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 8, 1976, in Houston, to John Robert Reese and Patricia Anne Reese. A man of profound character and unwavering kindness, John lived a life defined by his dedication to his family and his adventurous spirit.

John spent the majority of his career in the oil field, a profession that took him across the globe. He was highly respected by his colleagues, many of whom saw him as a mentor and confidant. Known for his formidable work ethic, John also possessed the rare ability to make anyone feel comfortable, no matter where in the world he found himself. He was a steady hand in times of need, always ready to assist a friend or colleague.

Outside of his professional life, John was a lifelong outdoorsman. He found his greatest peace on the water, often spending quiet mornings by a lake or river with a fishing rod in hand. He took great joy in passing this passion down to his children, teaching them not only how to bait a hook, but also the values of patience and persistence.

Above all, John’s greatest pride was his family. As a father and husband, he was a constant source of advice and a compassionate listener. He leaves behind a foundation of honesty and love that will continue to guide his family for generations.

Survivors include his wife, Jamie Reese; his mother, Patricia Reese; his children, Brandon Reese (Calista), Katelyn Reese, Caleb Reese, Rhett Due, and Wilson Reese; his grandchild, Kinley Reese; his sister, Christina Minx (James); and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Reese.

A gathering of Mr. Reese’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Wesley Methodist Church, 3515 Helena Avenue, Nederland. Cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to Donate Life Texas, the Coastal Conservation Association Texas, or that you simply take a friend fishing in his memory.

John was a friend to all that knew him. I first met John @ S&S in Houston back about 2003-2004. I went on to work with him @ Weatherford, where he was very well respected. He got called called home by our Lord and Savior way too young. Prayers to all his family and loved ones he left behind, so they may heal from his passing.
    He was my friend.
    RIP John.
