Jon Kenneth Clingaman, Sr.

March 2, 1949 - April 9, 2025

Jon Clingaman, Sr., 76, of Silsbee, died on April 9, 2025. He was born on March 2, 1949, in Peru, Indiana, to Kenneth and Cleo Clingaman.

Survivors include his sons, Jon Ken Clingaman, and his wife Gayle, of Lufkin; Jeffrey Clingaman, Sr. and his fiancée, Knicole Childs, of Silsbee; and Blake Clingaman of Orange; grandchildren, Piper Clingaman, Miller Clingaman, and Jeffrey Clingaman, Jr., nieces and nephews, Lyle Holmes III and his wife Stacey of Jeffersontown, Virginia, Christina Holmes of Amissville, Virginia, and Stanley Holmes of Fairmont, West Virginia, and numerous great nieces and nephews. Jon also leaves behind his loyal animal companions, Monkey and Sugar.

Jon is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jackie Holmes.

Jon was a 1969 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur. Jon enrolled in the United States Army from 1969-1971 where he served as a clerk and worked with artillery and infantry. He returned to Port Arthur in 1972 where he went to work for Cooper’s Garage in Groves. Jon attended Lamar Technology in Port Arthur and studied electronics. In 1978, Jon obtained his Texas Department of State Health Services EMT certification and started working on the ambulance part-time. In 1980, Jon moved to Silsbee and worked for Thomas Auto Supply until 1986. In 1986, Jon went to work for Hardin County E.M.S. full-time and worked to achieve his Texas Department of State Health Services Paramedic certification. Over the next 26 years, Jon was a dedicated and respected Paramedic, working at Eastex EMS, Tran-Star EMS, Priority One EMS, and culminating his career with the City of Beaumont EMS. During his work in the EMS industry, he often used his mechanical and electronics knowledge to be a shade tree mechanic to help keep the ambulance fleet on the road.

After retirement, Jon enjoyed making memories with his family, often traveling to Virginia to visit with his sister and family. Jon was also a member of Miami Indian Tribe and enjoyed researching his ancestry.

A gathering of Mr. Clingaman’s family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m. with his memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
