Joseph Anthony “Tony” Richard
Joseph Anthony “Tony” Richard, 76, of Bevil Oaks, died Friday, September 27, 2024, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born on November 27, 1947, to Meb Walters Richard and Raymond Richard, in Liberty, Texas, and was a United States Army Vietnam veteran.
Tony grew up in Fred, Texas, attending Warren High School, and then joined the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades as an apprentice industrial painter/blaster but due to the exemplary work he produced, his apprenticeship was waved, and he was awarded the Journeyman role, working for Bethlehem Steel and in several local petrol-chemical plants as well as in commercial and residential construction until he retired.
Tony loved spending time in nature, fishing, hunting, and riding his 4-wheeler, but he also immensely enjoyed gatherings with family and friends to talk, laugh and share memories as well as smoking briskets, ribs, and his famous deer jerky to share with others.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Penny Richard; daughter, Stephanie Bowe and her husband, Randy, of Flag Pond, Tennessee; son, Chad Richard of Highlands, Texas; sister, Teresa Dean of Lumberton, Texas; sister, Polly Brann and her husband, Jim, of Crockett, Texas; brother, Jerome Richard and his wife, Teresa, of Garrison, Texas; sister, Diane Richard of Lumberton, Texas; “honorary brother,” cousin, Larry Elkins and his wife, Debbie, of China, Texas; and grandchildren, Kirsten Stenson, Jessica Bowe, Ian Bowe, and Joey Richard. He was loved as “Uncle Tony” by his nieces and nephews Darren Dean, Lisa Dean, Danielle Townley, Treavor Richard, Katherine Richard, David Richard, Susan Joiner, Eric West, Alex West, Cheryl West, Felicia St. Cyr, and Marcus Guzman. An animal lover, Tony is also survived by his beloved cats, Gizmo, Taz, Colby Jack, and Minx.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Pat Richard, and brothers-in-law Richard Dean and David West.

Mr. Richard’s cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
