Joseph Daniel “Danny” Burneston

March 31, 1947 - June 1, 2022

Joseph Daniel “Danny” Burneston, age 75, of Fannett, left this world for his eternal home on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital, Beaumont following an unexpected heart episode at his home. Danny was born on March 31, 1947, in Corsicana, Texas, and was an only child.

He grew up in Port Arthur, Texas, and attended DeQueen Elementary and Woodrow Wilson Junior High. He participated in cub scouts and played little league baseball. Danny was a 1965 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur where he played football. He attended Lee College in Baytown and Southwest Texas University where he studied business. Danny also served in the Army Reserves. He was employed as a welder with Mobil Oil Refinery for 27 years, retiring in 1999.

Danny married Debbie Middleton in 1973, and together they had two beautiful daughters. They were married for 29 years. He remarried in 2018 to Shelly Rose Hays.

Danny never met a stranger. He had numerous friends and was well liked. He could fix anything and was a gifted mechanic. He never hesitated to offer advice or encouragement to those who crossed his path.

Danny had many hobbies throughout his life. He owned two businesses, Golden Triangle Marine Boat Dealership and Classics and Collisions Specialists. He was a classic car enthusiast; he loved exhibiting his cars at antique car shows and was a member of the Spindletop Streetrods Car Club for several years. Danny also enjoyed racing cars. He knew just about everything when it came to repairing cars and shared this with his youngest daughter. He was an avid fisherman and loved to take his daughters boat riding.

Danny loved high school football and was an avid Port Neches-Groves football fan. He was a season ticket holder and never missed a game.

Danny loved the Lord and was eager to share his faith with others. He attended various churches throughout his life and went on several mission trips to Mexico with Cathedral In the Pines Church. Central Baptist Church of Port Neches was his current church home.

Danny had a huge heart for all animals. He loved his cats and dogs, especially Cody, his white English shepherd.

Danny loved his two girls more than anything in the whole world and was so proud of them. He never let a conversation end without saying, “I love you.” The time spent with his daughters and grandchildren meant everything to him. Danny’s passing leaves a huge void in the lives of his family. We take comfort knowing that we will be reunited with him one day.

He is survived by his wife of 4 years, Shelly and daughters, Erin Damin and husband, Paul, of Kingwood, and Alisa Bell and husband, Brian, of Lumberton. Pawpaw was also greatly loved by his grandchildren, Isaac Damin, Micah Damin, Kate Damin, Evelyn Bell, and Alexander Bell. Other survivors include his aunt, Patty Howell and cousins, Vicki Howell Payne, Bennie Hand, Pam Rhodes, and Robin Wylie, all of Corsicana.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Winston Burneston; his uncle, Victor D. Howell; and aunts, Dorothy Anschutz, Betty Wylie, and Joan Hand.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 10, 2022, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A service celebrating Danny’s life will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Central Baptist Church, 903 Avenue B, Port Neches, with Pastor Larry Delcambre officiating. I know this is a bit late, but I just learned of Danny passing. I’ve known Danny for quite a few years from Exygon. I left the gym at the first of the year so we weren’t chatting with each other daily like before. I really enjoyed our little chats. He was always so positive and had a way of making you feel better even though he had his own things on him mind too. He often spoke of his daughters and grandkids. He was definitely proud of all of them. I am still in a bit of disbelief knowing he has left us. I was looking forward to our chats again coming back to gym. I was actually looking for him today but was told the news. I am so honored to have made friends with Danny and will cherish my memories. Sending my heartfelt prayers to his whole family and all his friends. He will me missed.

    Dave and Rhonda says:

Dave and I are better people for having this man in our lives. The last time that I saw him was right after my son in law’s death and although brief he stopped to hug me and tell me how sorry he was to hear what had happened and that he loved me and that my son in law was with the lord. Now days people may give their condolences and prayers but when Mr. Danny spoke it You knew he really did mean it. It seemed that he could see you walking in the gym and know you could use some kind words or Supportive counsel. I will for the rest of my life hear his voice saying “just don’t give up on him”. I’m going to miss Your counsel and your friendship I wish I would have known that the last time we spoke standing on the sidewalk outside of exyogen was the last time I would see you I would have told you how much you really mean to the both of us. We love you Danny.

    Laura Walker Caldwell says:

Mrs Bell…so so sorry about your dad. My son Cody was your music student at St Anne and your dad and I talked about that and so many things almost daily at the gym. In fact Cody finally met him for the first time the day before he passed. I know I can speak for everyone at Exygon when I say he was the friendliest there, knew everyone and always had only positive things to say about all!! I miss seeing him at the gym everyday and the table he and his “regulars” occupied is very sad without him.

    Debbie Thomas says:

Wow! Heaven is filling up with so many people I know. I know he has left a huge void here on this earth, but he is walking, leaping and praising God on the streets of heaven. A great thing about being a Christian, is that you will see him again! Prayers for the family and loved ones that will be missing Danny here.

Mr. Danny always would wave and honk when he saw me outside (On Gaulding Rd). When we moved to Fannett back in 1996, he stopped by our house, and introduced himself (A true neighbor). Condolences & Prayers for the family at this time of loss.

    David Lee says:

He was a strong, caring person. He will be missed by all. I met him at the gym and it was rare for him to miss a day, he was an encourager and a man of God!
