Joseph “Jody” Pascal Crosby
Joseph “Jody” Pascal Crosby, 75, of Kountze, died Wednesday, February 19, 2025. He was born November 6, 1949, to Ruby Elizabeth Broussard Crosby and William “Rip” Pascal Crosby.
Born the son of a Purple Heart Veteran of World War II, from an early age, Jody learned his work ethic from his father, Pascal. An owner of local businesses for decades, Pascal served as an example of an early riser and all-day hard worker. He often remarked that his father wore a tie every day, no matter the job, and often rushed out the door in the mornings, only eating half of a piece of bacon. Jody, however, was not a fan of ties or leaving a piece of bacon half-eaten. The personal dedication to hard work, however, was imprinted upon him.
Early in high school, against his mother’s wishes, he developed a keen interest in playing sports- especially football. This was in part, due to the success of his cousin, Tony Crosby, who was a kicker for the 1963 national champion Texas Longhorns team. Jody looked fondly on his high school football days, where he and his teammates excelled to the Texas State Semi-Finals in 1967. Following high school, Jody ultimately pursued his carpenter’s apprenticeship, which he ultimately completed in the early 1970’s. He married his hometown sweetheart, Sandy, in 1973 for a marriage that lasted over fifty years. He subsequently worked for decades with Daniels Construction Company, where he formed lifelong friendships until his passing.
As a hard-working man, both in his profession and with “honey dos” assigned to him by family after long days, he also enjoyed his leisure time. He was a connoisseur of western movies and TV shows of John Wayne and Steve McQueen- his favorite actors. He had meticulously dedicated to his memory the details of all of the Three Stooges’ shorts, a lifelong joy that he easily passed on to his sons and grandsons. Above all else, he enjoyed having all of his family together for big meals, merriment, and looking back on all of the great memories we have.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra “Sandy” Crosby; sons, Joseph Daniel “Danny” Crosby and his wife, Sheree, of Kountze; James William “Jamey” Crosby of Huntsville; grandchildren, Benjamin William “Ben” Crosby, Noah James Crosby, and Dominic Pascal Crosby, all of Huntsville; Samuel “Sam” Daniel Crosby and Luke Isaac Crosby, both of Kountze; mother-in-law, Vaudene Daniel; brother-in-law, Eddie Daniel and his wife, Jane; and sister-in-law, Julie Wilkins. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Joseph James “J.J.” Crosby; siblings, Jean Wilkins Blair, John D. Wilkins, and Ben Crosby; and father-in-law, George Daniel.
A gathering of Mr. Crosby’s family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 24, 2025, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.

I lost my husband, Bill in July. I’ve experienced those rough times as well.
May the Lord be with all of you and comfort you as only he can.
God’s will be there if you call out to Him whenever you need Him.
Blessings and prayers,
Cheryl Browning Meadows
One of the best men that came out of Kountze High School. He was my friend and always had a smile for me. “Big man on campus”, we will miss you. I’ll see you later.
I saw Jody Dec 2023 at the Kountze nursing home. Martha Richardson and I visited with him. He was friendly and had a good attitude. Jody has fought the good fight. And he has won.
Prayers for his family and friends.
Sandy – you and your family have my deepest sympathy.
I certainly agree with Gilbert and Carol. I grew up with Jody. Went to church with him, went to school with him, spent many hours with him at his home, and called his mother Aunt Ruby. Played football and basketball with him, went bowling together, and if you knew him, he bowled/played basketball just like he played football. He was really like a brother to me and we had some great times together. I loved him like a brother and will miss him. He was a gentle giant.
I worked with Jody for many years at Daniel’s. He was always a pleasure to work with and also a load of fun. He will be greatly missed. My condolences go out to his entire family.
Rest in peace Jody.
We are so sorry to hear of Jody’s passing. I have known the family for many years and they are “salt of the earth” people. I remember Jody coming by Sandy and my office with his favorite Dunkin Donut coffee. Jody worried about Sandy and my safety at our little business and came and installed a peep hole in the door and told us to keep the door locked. He was a giant of a man and very quiet. Through Sandy I knew that when he said something, he meant business. RIP Jody
. Prayers for strength to all the family and friends
