Joseph “Joe” Simmons

Joseph “Joe” Martin Simmons, 81, of Silsbee, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2021.  He was born in Beaumont, Texas, on February 29, 1940, to Linda and Kenneth Simmons.

Joe graduated from Silsbee High School in 1958. Joe worked and retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber, Orange, Texas. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing with his wife, Paula, as well as traveling.  Joe had a great love for BBQ and would often drive for miles seeking the best BBQ in Texas!

Joe is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Paula Simmons; sons, Kenny and his wife, Cheryl, of Lincoln, Texas; David Simmons and his partner, Andre Walker, of Atascadero, California; Bobby Simmons and his wife, Tammy, of Silsbee, Texas; daughter, Jennifer Simmons Damron of Fort Worth, Texas; sisters, Sharon Herron and her husband, Dan and Sheila Eveland and her husband, Tom, all of Silsbee; and aunt and uncle, Billie and Tommy Hancock. Joe was lovingly referred to as “Papa” by his seven grandchildren, Mitchell Simmons, Elise Simmons, Amanda Simmons McKee, Morgan O’Dell Coats, Michael Simmons, Garrett Damron, and Noah Damron. He also had six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Linda and Kenneth Simmons.

Our Daddy, “Papa” to all of his grand and great-grandchildren, will be greatly missed. We love you and will see you again.

A gathering of Mr. Simmons’ family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  His interment will follow at Hardin Memorial Park, Silsbee.
