Joseph John Magliolo II (Mag)
It is with great sadness the family of Joseph John Magliolo II (Mag) announces his passing on February 14, 2024, at the age of 74. John passed away after a hard-fought battle with heart failure and will be deeply missed by his wife of 51 years, Debbie and their daughter, Kary, whom he loved from the first time he saw her and her husband, Dave, who saved his life, not once but twice, and his only grandchild, Kooper Grace.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, in 1949, to Joe and Ione Magliolo, he moved to Mont Belvieu, Texas, 7 years ago to be closer to the people he loved the most. He graduated Beaumont High School and attended Lamar University studying to be a draftsman.
He passed on the draftsman career and went into the Beaumont Police Department for 7 years. After Kary was born he decided to play it safe and left for Mobil Oil Refinery, now Exxon Mobil. He retired from Exxon as a supervisor, looking forward to the beach life and fishing Galveston Bay every chance he could.
That was the plan until Hurricane Ike came along and changed those plans. After losing everything that dreadful day, life was never the same. He couldn’t seem to find the peace or happiness he once had as an old beach bum. As Kooper’s Pop, he loved taking her up and down the beach, on golf cart rides, jeep rides without the top on, fishing, boating, playing in the water with her, all the while listening to the oldies. Those were just a few of his favorite things. He always wanted to be outdoors. There were always dogs too. Big, little, and almost always some kind of rescue with a few cats and birds for good measure. Many promises were made to find a home for those strays, but he always knew they were already home. In lieu of flowers he asked that any donations be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705.
He was unwavering in his decision that no memorial service be held for him. This was his wish and I sincerely hope you will remember him as he hoped you would. His exact instructions were for all his friends to go to the beach, his favorite place, and just open a beer for him. Point the beer towards the water and just say “Mag, this is for you.” He always said he would know each time that happened. His family, the beach and a little beer every once in a while, was all it took to make him happy. Gone, but not forgotten, I hope you think of him and any memories you have of him and just smile.
A good Catholic until the end, he knew God had gotten him this far and only by the grace of God he was able to live the life he wanted. He will be cremated and brought home to the place he loved. In the hearts of those who loved him, he will always be there.
His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
My sincere condolences and heartfelt prayers. It was always a pleasure to work with and talk with Mag! Praying for your strength and comfort! 1🙏🏾✝️🤍

Dear Debbie,
,
My condolences to you and your family. I ran into Joseph John several years ago at the big store. He told me that you all had moved to Mont
Belvieu and he was just visiting friends. What I remember the most about Joseph John is that he usually had a big smile on his face. I also remember that he loved to fish and because Jesus hung around a lot of fishermen, John will fit in the group. May God bless you and your family and help to ease you through this time of sorrow.
My sincerest condolences to the Magliolo family. I have good memories of John from his time at the Beaumont Police Dept. He was a good and kind man. My prayers are with you.
Debbie I’m sorry for your loss and your family’s loss. John was great to work with and he became a friend. I treasure being able to work and cook with John back in the day. His grandmother’s Suga was spectacular. We reconnected in Crystal Beach and it was like we were never separated . RIP Mag

Such a good man to lose. Grew up across the street from John in Port Arthur. Me and Kary were friends from that time forward. Last time I saw Big John was at the big store at Crystal. He always had a welcoming smile and personality. John was like a second dad to us Peyres boys. John will be missed surely by all the ones that loved him especially his amazing wife Debbie and daughter Kerry. Sorry for yalls loss!! Love you guys!

My heart breaks for your loss. You are such a dear, loving family and I pray for peace and comfort for you.
My heart is heavy thinking about all the good times we spent with John and his precious wife Debbie. She was in my husband’s class at French High School and even though we didn’t go out much they were always the ones we called to babysit. Who would have thought they would also become our best friends! I am so sorry John left this world but I also smile because I know he and Dick are walking the road in heaven thinking of ways to get in trouble together!
You know they are indeed together. that helps my heart knowing he won’t be alone ❤️
Debbie,Kary and Kooper I am so sorry for your loss! May God give you peace and comfort knowing he is no longer suffering!! I send love and hugs to you all.
John was one of the most pleasurable persons to be around and work with. It is sad to see this family’s loss. I pray for their peace in this time of grief. RIP Mag.
