Joseph G. Willis

July 1, 1945 - August 10, 2021

Joseph G. “Joe” Willis, 76, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Christus Southeast Texas-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on July 1, 1945, in Pitkin, Louisiana to Atha Lee Perkins and J.D. Willis.

Joe made his life and raised his family in Silsbee with the love of his life, Bobby, for the past fifty-three years. He worked as an oilfield rigger, and later owned his own logging business. After retiring from logging, he sold produce north of Silsbee, where most people knew him as the “Fruit Stand Man”. He loved visiting with people, and if you knew Joe, then you know he never met a stranger. The things he loved the most were his family, bass fishing on the lake, bluegrass music, Blue Bell ice cream, the Dallas Cowboys, and his “poochies” Bossy and Bella.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Bobby Willis; daughters, Tina Engle and her husband, Bruce, of Livingston; Nina Gonsoulin and her husband, Joey, of Saginaw; Darla Biscamp and her husband, Leland, of Silsbee; and Misty Walters and her husband, Clint, of Orange; sons, JY Willis and his wife Angela, of Silsbee; and Joseph Willis and his fiancée, Tina Hooker, of Buna; twenty-nine grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; siblings, Nelda White and her husband, Gary, and Norma Wolcott, both of Kountze; Robert Willis, of Batson; Dean Willis and his wife, Florence, and Tim Willis and his wife, Phyllis, both of Huntington.

Joe is preceded in death by his daughter, Christene Willis; mother, Atha Lee Willis; father, J.D. Willis; sister, Betty Sue Glenn; brother, Jerrel Willis; and grandsons, Danny McAdams and Barry McAdams.

A gathering of Mr. Willis’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 13, 2021, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Resthaven Cemetery, Silsbee.
