Josh Picard

July 25, 1987 - November 11, 2021

Was there ever a man so loved? In case there was wonder, family and friends showed up in droves to answer that question and visit Joshua Kurt Picard during the final days in his fight against esophageal cancer. In the days prior to his death, friends and family arrived, some having traveled many hours, to spend time if only to watch him breathe. The love shown and felt in his room was palpable. As his heart beat its last, Josh ended his seven-month battle surrounded by family on the morning of November 11, 2021.

Joshua began this journey accruing loved ones even before his birth on July 25, 1987. No matter where he lived, he touched the lives of those around him starting with his first friends, Adam, cousin, Matt and his brother, Jacob. Along with his friends from elementary, Josh graduated from Hamshire-Fannett High School and Lamar University where he amassed even more friends.

He was passionate about golf, football, LSU, dirt bikes, and history (especially World War II) which increased as he grew older. One of his favorite places to visit with friends and family was the Vicksburg National Military Park in Vicksburg, MS.

Upon meeting Randi, Josh gained an even larger family to love and who love him whole-heartedly in return. Randi and Josh enjoyed a wonderful honeymoon trip to Paris, and Josh was able to visit Normandy Beach. This trip remained a favorite of Josh’s. Josh and Randi have two amazing sons, Jackson and Brooks. They made his life and family complete.

Joshua is survived by his wife, Randi Leigh-Ann Paine and their sons, Jackson and Brooks; his father, Kurt Picard; mother, Lisa Hawsey; siblings, Jacob Picard and wife, Brittany, Nick Bethea, and Olivia Belt; nephews, Landen, Alex, and Baylor; and grandparents, Jim and Linda Hawsey; along with a multitude of other family and friends.

Joshua was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Patrick and Mary Rose Picard and his classmate, Eric Neal.

I had the opportunity to coach Josh and Jacob during their Middle School and High School careers. Josh was a great athlete that loved to compete. His graduation class was loaded with talent and was an outstanding group of kids that were very close to one another. Josh is the 16th player/student that I was lucky to have coached to have passed away. I certainly miss coaching these guys and know that Josh and the ones to go before him are having a pretty good pick up game up in heaven! I hope you guys are having a ball together. Thanks for the memories!

May God hold Randi& the boys in His living arms for all of their days. It was an honor to have been able to work with Josh & be his friend. I know that Tom has greeted him in Heaven & they are sharing some great football & music talks – all pain free with the joy that surpasses all understanding.

Sending condolences and love to Joshua’s family! It is with deep sorrow to learn of Joshua’s passing. He was a brave trooper who endured so much pain. As his great aunt and sister to his paternal grandmother, Mary Rose, I remember Josh as a loving person who was always kind and considerate of others. From a baby to adulthood, he displayed these qualities! His genuine smile and his love of life will always remain in my memory. May he rest in peace! Aunt Margaret
