Jousha “J-Baby” Moore, Jr.

January 24, 1954 - September 13, 2022

Jousha Moore, Jr. “J-Baby” was born on January 24, 1954. He was the eldest of three children born to parents, Jousha, Sr. and Creola Moore, in Anahuac, TX. Jousha accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Paul Methodist Church in Double Bayou, TX.

Jousha graduated from Anahuac High School and went on to receive further education from Lee College.  During college, Jousha worked at Brown & Root in Baytown, TX until beginning his career as a Millwright at Lyondell Citgo in Pasadena, TX where he retired after thirty-seven years. In 1975, he met the love of his life and longtime companion Deltra.

Jousha was a PHA Masonic member where he sat as Secretary and moved up to W.M. at Noble Eagle #537 in Double Bayou, TX until the lodge folded.

Jousha was the epitome of a “country boy”. He loved his family dearly and made many memories traveling to various destinations for vacations.  Fishing, hunting, carpentry, and putting meat on the pit making his delicious barbeque was just a few of his passions. Jousha was truly special in the heart of his family as a devoted husband, loving and caring father, incredible papaw, son, brother, and uncle. He was a blessing to so many with his infectious smile.

Jousha departed this earthly life on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.  He is preceded in death by his father, Jousha Moore, Sr.; granddaughter, Ema’nn Malveaux, and his grandparents, Dora and Faye Humphrey; and dearest friends, Seth “Pappy” Humphrey and “Heavy”.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of forty-two years, Deltra Moore of Stowell; daughters Karen Speights of League City; Tiffany Moore-Williams and husband, Alphonse, of Gonzales, LA; sons Leslie White (Moore) and wife, Krichon, of Baytown; and Wesley White (Moore) of Baytown; grandchildren Zoe Bennett, Ryanne and Harley White, and Autumn Williams; mother, Creola Moore; brother, Michael Anthony Moore, Sr. of Double Bayou, TX; sister, Grace Moore of Double Bayou, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and host of relatives and close friends.

A gathering of Mr. Moore’s family and friends will be 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011 or any organization of your choice.

We will miss Josh and his loving and caring spirit. I worked with Josh as a machinist for over 30 years and he was always a brother to me. Even in retirement if he didn’t hear from me, he would always reach out to my wife or other co-workers. I will pray for his wife and family as I know it will be a big void. Feel free to call me if you need anything. With Love, Monroe Yearby, Jr.
