Joyce Ann Efferson

April 7, 1942 - July 11, 2025

Joyce Ann Efferson, 83, of Baytown, died Friday, July 11, 2025. She was born on April 7, 1942, in Chireno to Eula Mae Parker and Oatus Roy Bentley.

Joyce was a decorated sharpshooter and was honored by the ROTC at Jeff Davis High School where she graduated with honors. She was also the high princess at her senior prom. Joyce was an amazing mother to three children and three chihuahuas. She was a strong Christian. Joyce enjoyed dancing, gardening, and good margarita. She was successful at starting a career late in life at Exxon Mobil in Baytown. Joyce was also a breast cancer survivor. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, aunt, friend, and animal lover.

Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Efferson and her spouse, Beth Benoit; son, Rudolph Efferson; and granddaughter, Amy Efferson.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Shelley Efferson; four brothers; and three sisters.

As the weeks turn to months and the seasons change, we are reminded that our time together is precious. Thank you, Mom, for always being an influence. For always taking the time to listen. Thank you for coming to our rescue when you were tired and didn’t feel well. Thank you for loving us without judgment. Thank you for all of the wonderful things you did for us throughout our lives. You were and will always be a part of our lives. Now you have peace, are pain free, and there is no more fear. You are now experiencing all the blessing promised by our savior, Jesus Christ.

A gathering of Ms. Efferson’s family and friends will begin 12:00 p.m. with funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston.

    Joyce was a truly special person. I’ll always remember her for her warm smile and her ability to make everyone feel comfortable and loved. She welcomed me to her family over 31 years ago and I will be forever blessed just to have known her.

    She was a devoted mother and a cherished friend. Her kindness, her strength, and her love for her family was apparent to everyone.
