Joyce Nadine Hughes Owens
Joyce Nadine Hughes Owens, lifetime resident of Beaumont, passed away on September 23, 2024. She was the seventh child born to Walter Curtis Hughes and Nadine (Perkins) Hughes on June 2, 1949. She passed away at the age of 75 surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and a faithful Christian woman who touched the lives of all who knew her.
For 55 years, Joyce was the devoted and loving wife of William “Bill” Owens. Together, they shared a life full of love, faith, and family, raising two children: daughter April Joy Owens Morreale and son Bradley Williams Owens.
Joyce dedicated her free time to wholeheartedly supporting her children and grandchildren in all their activities. Whether it was a game, performance, or special event, she was always present, cheering them on and celebrating their achievements with love and pride.
She took great pride in being a South Park Greenie and cherished her time working for Jefferson County, where she built many lifelong friendships that remained close to her heart.
Joyce’s pride and joy extended to her eight grandchildren, whom she adored and nurtured: Zachary Logan Morreale (Savannah), Luke William Morreale (Mary Grace), Landon Michael Morreale, Layton Victor Morreale, Cayden William Owens, Parker Evan Owens, Brody Grayson Owens, and Samantha Lynn Owens. Her role as a grandmother was one of her greatest treasures, and she found immense joy in watching them grow and succeed.
Joyce’s presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that Joyce is now at peace, reunited with her Lord and Savior.
Joyce is survived by her husband; daughter; son; grandchildren; sister, Betty Dale; and brother, Tommy Hughes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart. Her family was her greatest treasure, and her love and generosity touched everyone around her.
Joyce is proceeded in death by her parents, Walter Curtis and Nadine (Perkins) Hughes; sisters, Patricia Wilkins and Darlene Craighead; brothers, Donald Hughes and David Hughes; and son-in-law, Richard Morreale.
