Juanajean Pederson
Juanajean Pederson, a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away at home peacefully Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the age of 85.
Juanajean was born on April 5, 1939, in Olney, Texas, to Garth and Juanita Robinson. She had a younger brother, Bill, whom she loved dearly. Jean graduated from Midway High School in 1957, where she was a drum major and played on the basketball team, which took home a state championship. After high school, she trained as a medical lab technician in Waco. She met the love of her life, Charles, on a blind date and they married on December 12, 1958. They settled in Nederland in 1965 and joined the Port Arthur Yacht Club in 1966 for their love of sailing!
After they sold their business, Marlinspike Marine, of 19 years, they purchased their first beach house. She used the beach house to host many LOP luncheons where she made many wonderful friends. She has truly passed on her love for the beach to her daughters and grandchildren. She had a love for sailing, enjoyed baking, working in her flower beds, and feeding the squirrels and birds. Any event that her grandchildren had, you knew that Jean would be there – front and center! She was very loving, caring, and kind to all who knew her.
Jean is survived by her husband, Charles; daughters, Katherine Martin and husband, Randy, of Port Neches, and Christy Olsen and husband, Brian, of Orange; grandson, Charles Olsen, of Orange; and granddaughter, Brianna Hranicky and husband, Hunter, of Nederland.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Garth and Juanita Robinson, and brother, Bill Robinson.
A gathering of Mrs. Pederson’s family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
