Karen Romero Adcock
Karen Romero Adcock, 71, formerly of Groves, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Houston Methodist Hospital after losing her battle with Covid. She was born October 7, 1949, in Port Arthur, to Frances Louise Cotton and Willis Joseph Romero, Sr.
Karen attended Port Neches Groves ISD prior to graduating from Nederland High School in 1968. Later that year, she married the love of her life, Billy Adcock. The two were married for forty-seven years before his passing in 2015. Karen was a devoted Christian and a member of St. Peter’s Catholic and Apostolic Church in Groves. This faith provided her strength during her struggles in recent years. She was an employee of Southwestern Bell/AT&T in Beaumont and retired after more than thirty years of service.
Karen never met a stranger and held a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved pets. To know Karen was to love her, as she drew people in with her kind and fun-loving personality. Karen loved to do for others and would put their needs ahead of her own whenever she could. Throughout her life, there were few things she enjoyed more than visiting with her cherished friends and family. Karen also loved dancing, listening to live music, shopping, cooking, crafting, and sharing her talents with others.
In September of 2018, she received a second chance at life when she was blessed with her lung transplant. Karen was grateful for the extra years it gave her with her loved ones. Her family is especially thankful to the donor’s family, the Houston Methodist transplant team, and all the many others that gave loving support along the way.
Karen loved her family dearly. She is survived by her daughters, Koby Adcock Tompkins and husband, Chris, of Groves; Kourtney Jordan and husband, Kyle, of Houston; grandchildren, Cade Tompkins and Kora Jordan, as well as many extended family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Frances Louise Cotton and Willis Joseph Romero, Sr.; husband, Billy Adcock; and brother, Joe Romero.
A gathering of Mrs. Adcock’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Broussard’s, 505 N.12th Street, Nederland. Cremation arrangements for Mrs. Adcock will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

Karen was a wonderful relative to get to know when we were growing up. Always kind and fun to be around. So many wonderful memories of her over the years. So sorry to hear of her passing. I know both my parents (James & Pat, both also diseased) thought highly of her as well.

Karen you will be missed by so many people. You are so loved. Dot and Lea were the best caregivers ever. They kept excellent records and took care of all your needs plus some. That proves what a loving person you are to all. I can still hear you telling me about that beautiful Kora. I hope to meet her myself one day. I know Kourtney will make sure she knows you every single day.
We go back many many years and you will never be forgotten.

I was so very SORRY to hear of her passing – I did not know her well, only through my cousin, Paula Standley. She was a SWEET and PRETTY Lady! My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.. May she rest in eternal PEACE.
