Karl Lester Knoble

April 1, 1930 - July 24, 2024

Karl Lester Knoble, of Beaumont, Texas, passed into the Arms of His Savior, on July 24, 2024. He was born on April 1, 1930, in Easton, Pennsylvania, to Lester and Beulah Knoble.

Karl served for 6 years with the U.S. Air Force, including active duty as technical sergeant and Radar instructor during the Korean war. After being discharged from the service, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at Penn State University, followed by graduate level study at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia while working for RCA. He said that he would never forget the foundation for his education that he received in a one room schoolhouse one teacher in Old Williams Township, Pennsylvania, where the first 8 grades were taught in one room; and the older children would help the younger children.

From 1964 to 1969, he worked for NASA in Houston, and was involved in the Apollo spaceflight program and lunar landing. Karl then worked as an aerospace engineer for 4 different Space and Military Defense Companies. His other endeavors include attending a Bible College at the age of 80 and learning to play the dulcimer at age 86.

Out of all his accomplishments, Karl felt that the most significant part of his life was when he understood the truth and power of what Jesus did for him on the cross and was baptized by the Holy Spirit. He has been a member at Faith Harbor Assembly of God in Port Arthur, Texas, for most of his years since living in Beaumont.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanne Knoble; his parents, Lester and Beulah Knoble; sisters, Elaine Knoble and Joan Springfield; and stepson, David Franklin.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela Joy Richardson and her husband, Robert, of Beaumont, TX and their children, Karl’s grandchildren, Bethany Elaine Vaccaro and her husband, Matthew, of Clear Lake, TX; Hannah Joy Barnett and her husband, Zubulum, of Manvel, TX; Stephanie Lynn Sladaritz and her husband, Samuel, of Beaumont, TX; and Paul Benjamin Richardson of Beaumont, TX. He was also recently blessed with a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Austen Vaccaro, of Clear Lake, TX; and a great-grandbaby boy due in September.

Karl is also survived by his brother, Ronald Knoble and his wife, Anne, of Phillipsburg, NJ; stepson, Larry Franklin and his wife, Cindy, of Hot Springs, AR; his stepdaughter-in-law, Nancy Franklin of Tomball, TX; and his stepdaughter, Karen Conley and her husband, David, of Cleburne, TX; his other grandchildren (through his wife, Joanne) include, Jason Franklin of Tomball, TX; Lauren Holiman and her husband, Josh, of Magnolia, TX; Jacob Franklin of Gales Ferry, CT; Ryan Franklin of Bloomington, IL; Bryan Matthew Conley of Cleburne, TX; and Kaitlyn and Michael Garcia of Grapevine, TX; other great-grandchildren include Gray and Lyla Holiman of Magnolia, TX; Additionally included in his family are his stepdaughters (through Angela’s mother, Mozelle), Sylvia Carlisle and her husband, Gary; and Rebecca Person and her husband, Vance, both of Fannett, TX.

The family would like to express a heartfelt gratitude to Karl’s caregivers, as well as the staff at Collier Park, who came alongside Angela, and cared for him over the past year and half.

A gathering of Mr. Knoble’s family and friends will begin at 3:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2024. A family graveside service will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, at a later date.
