Kathryn “Kathy” McClendon
Kathryn “Kathy” Joyce Turnage McClendon, 77, of Beaumont, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. She was born on February 16, 1949, at St. Therese Hospital in Beaumont to Opal Louise Morgan and Wilson Connie Turnage.
Kathy was raised in Vidor, Texas and graduated from Vidor High School in 1968. She graduated as a licensed cosmetologist. Kathy worked at several hair salons in Beaumont as well as nursing homes. She was the activity director at several nursing homes in Nederland and Vidor. Kathy lived in Kearny, Arizona, for a while before moving back to Southeast Texas. She eventually ended her career working for Howell’s Furniture Store in Beaumont as a saleswoman.
She had big heart for people and would help whenever and however as needed. Kathy would stay with sick people for days and sometimes several weeks, in their homes or hospitals. She had a Samaritan’s heart and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her son, Heath McClendon and his wife, Dena; daughter, Carmen Hargis and her husband, Todd; grandchildren, Kahlyn Nesbitt and her husband, Chris, and Tommy McClendon; great-grandchildren, Reagan and Rhys Nesbitt; and brother, Gary Turnage.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Connie Dougharty, Robert Turnage and Charles Turnage.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Autumn, Edith, and Brittany with Heart-to-Heart Hospice and to Donna with Home Instead for their loving care of their mom.

A gathering of Mrs. McClendon’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. with her funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 10, 2026, at Victory Temple, 2630 South 11th Street, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

Carmen, Prayers for you and the entire family at this time. May God comfort each of you. Your Mom was a special friend to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be greatly missed. We know that she is rejoicing in heaven with family and friends.

Kathy and I’ve been friends since our kids were very small. We used to sit in the yard and let them play in the water hose. I remember the day so very well and I will miss her dearly. We had some very special times together and some very long talks. She was my go to along with Gary. I know she’s in a much better place now and I know she’ll be there waiting on all of us. I love you, Kathy and thanks for all the help you’ve been to me through my life. May God bless you, your friend Karen.
Kathy, what can say. The times we hugged, talked on the phone, and fellowship together at church and at the Register’s home were very special to me.
I thought of you on your birthday, I regret not stopping what I was doing and givie you a text.

Ms. Kathryn will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Simply a beautiful and loving lady. Thank you to her sweet family who allowed me to care for her. God greatly bless you.
