Ken Gregory
Kenneth “Ken” Gordon Gregory passed away on May 21, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born on September 6, 1938, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Annie and J.W. Gregory.
Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, DeLilah; their two children, Sherra Edgar (husband Robert), Paul Gregory (wife Alexandrea); his grandson, Riley Womack, his bonus grandchildren: Sarah Stephens (husband Israel), Daniel Edgar, John Edgar (wife Tiffany), Nathan Edgar; and his five bonus great-grandchildren: Peyton, Greenlee, Charlotte, Lydia, and Vera.
He will also be fondly remembered by his sister, Diane Jennings, and two brothers, Mike (wife Donna) and Wayne Gregory (wife Becky).
Ken graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1955. He married the love of his life, DeLilah, in 1967—on May 5th they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. He served in the Texas Air National Guard and worked at the Texaco Oil Refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, for 30 years, before retiring in 2000.
Ken was passionate about God, family, and his vast collection of antique radios. He showed his love for Jesus by serving in numerous leadership positions at his church and through his deep and abiding passion for mission work. Over the years he participated in countless mission trips to places both in the United States and around the world. Ken loved visiting with and supporting missionaries—helping them raise funds, providing for their needs while on furlough, and sitting across the table with them, always drinking coffee. He truly believed that every person deserved to have their basic needs met, to be treated with dignity and respect, and to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
While he was always a hard worker and deeply moved by his faith, Ken found immense joy in spending time with his family, especially if that time meant drinking coffee at a local coffee shop, watching the Houston Astros or the Dallas Cowboys, spending a few days at the family cabin outside Colmesneil, Texas, or tinkering in his “radio room.” One cannot talk about Ken without talking about his radios—he doted over his collection of over 70 antique radios from the ‘20s, ‘30s, and ‘40s and traveled to radio shows across the country well into his 80s. Whether soldering a loose wire on his Philco Model 70, polishing a tiger-oak cabinet, or sifting through attics and antique stores for that elusive black-dial Zenith Walton, he never tired of anything related to the world of antique radios—a world that had been surely his for nearly all his life.
He will be missed.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Encounter Church Mission Fund, 5300 Twin City Highway, Groves, Texas 77619.

We knew Ken and Delilah for years when we all attended Cathedral in the Pines Christian Center together. . They were always so sweet together. They have always been terrific parents to their children and their spouses and their grandson. Ken will be dearly missed .
I will miss the fun days we had together. We talked radios, heaven, and many other things. Ken was my friend for 33 years, It will be strange not to be able to call him . Until we meet again , you will NOT be forgotten , and always in my heart. Vincent
