Kenneth Wayne Barthell
Kenneth Barthell, 77, of Port Neches, died Friday, June 25, 2021, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. He was born November 24, 1943, in Beaumont, to Geraldine Oneita Perkins Barthell and Kenneth Howard Barthell.
Kenneth was a United States Army veteran. He worked at the Beaumont police department and retired from the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office after over forty years of service. He enjoyed watching western movies, playing golf, and boxing. He loved music and was always in a band playing guitar and singing. Kenneth also enjoyed hanging out at Walmart and he loved animals.
Survivors include his children, Sheila Tate and husband, Tommy, of Groves; Dee Stasinos, of Nederland; and Shane Barthell, of Houston; grandchildren, Kelly Coonrod; Lauren Coonrod; Nick Stasinos and wife, Sarah; and Katheryn Hannon; great-granddaughter, Sofia Stasinos; stepdaughter, Julie Hannon and husband, Billy; stepson, Chris Leach and wife, Amy; and step grandchildren, Chrstopher Nicholas Leach and Lily Leach.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jerry Lou Courville; and grandson, Jarrot Kenneth Barthell.
Private cremation arrangements for Mr. Barthell will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A memorial service for Mr. Barthell will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Central Baptist Church, 903 Avenue B, Port Neches.

Dee, My heart goes out to you Snd your family. It seems like yesterday we were growing up down the street from each other. I remember your dad being in uniform and going to work while we were playing. Those were the good ole days. I pray for comfort and peace for you and your family. ❤️

Best friend since 3rd grade. Went in National Guard together in 1961. Went in Reg Army 1964. We went to Germany together and were in the Military Police for 3 years. He was best man at my wedding. Both got out in 1967 and went to work for the Beaumont Police Dept. Ken left the BPD and went to work for the Jeff County S O. We stayed friends till his death. Didn't mention the little things we did together that almost drove our parents and teachers nuts. We both went to Lamar together. I will miss him.

Sorry to hear of Kenneth's passing, knew him well as teenage base ball player.. He was a fine guy through those teen years. Prayers for his family.. Kenneth had a lot of friends from all schools.

I worked with Ken at Jefferson County SO. We were friends and colleagues since 1983. He taught me about the reality of working for a Law Enforcement Agency. His advise was always valuable. God rest your mighty soul, Ken.

Dee Ann, Sheila and Shane, Dee Ann you and Sheila might remember me and my twin sister Pat. We lived in the big house on Hazel and Ms. Barthell, Kenny's mother lived in the other side of the house that faced 5th Street. I remember your Dad practicing with his band and listening to the music that we could hear thru the Walls. Cherry Pie was always one of my favorites he would sing a long long time ago. Kenny was a handsome man and I thought he was like a celebrity because he sang and played guitar in a band. Kenny took me for my first ride on his motor cycle when yall lived out in Amelia. Kenny gave me and my twin sister alot of advice when we were teenagers and we never wanted to let him down which meant staying out of trouble, staying away from the wrong people and places. Kenny was a fine man and I know yall will miss him dearly. I moved away from Beaumont in 1973 and lost touch with Kenny but I always loved him. Kenny was like a big brother. Kenneth went to Fletcher Elementary with me and for some reason always remembered him from those days. Thinking our last class picture was in the 2nd grade at Fletcher and then he moved. on. God bless your family, from what I remember he was a kind person..

My husband and I met Ken during one of the most difficult times in our lives, his daughter’s birth mother took her from school and ran to Louisiana with her. He was so kind and encouraging during the almost one plus years she was gone. He would occasionally call to check on us, or I would call to ask questions. He was determined we would get her back which was so encouraging to us. We did get her back and, after going before the judge , we went to Ken’s office. There were lots of happy tears and he kept telling her how long he had been looking for her. Pray he knew how much he meant to us. She graduated from Lamar with an accounting degree, married her high school sweetheart and they have two precious children. We could never thank him enough. Praying God’s comfort and peace for his family.
Ken was my great senior partner when We were at Beaumont PD in the 60 s Tried to get with you thru the years. Knew you loved that guitar and your family After you retired tried to catch up with you at the courthouse RIP ken. Thanks for all the great times on patrol.
