Kenneth H. Weaver

Kenneth H. Weaver, 74, of China, died Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Christus Southeast Texas-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on December 6, 1946, to Lorene and Chester Carl Weaver, in Houston.

In 1975, Ken started his law enforcement career, including being elected as Constable of Precinct 5. Since then, he has worked security at Bill Hill, Sergeant for Texas Women’s University Police Department, US Marshal’s Service as a Special Deputy-after that position was eliminated, he became a Private Investigator with Z. Shelton and Assoc., ran a hotshot delivery service for 5^th-wheel trailers all over the US with his traveling buddy, Smitty. Most recently he worked as a contract security at the Jack Brooks Federal Courthouse, where he worked closely with the US Marshal’s Service deputies and Federal Judges. However, I’m not sure how much work actually got done between all the pranks.

Ken was a loving husband, amazing Dad, and wonderful PawPaw. He loved motorcycles, old cars, and resale shops.

Ken was a prankster to the core, always coming up with some way to aggravate his coworkers, supervisors, children, friends, and of course me. He kept me laughing for right at 45 years and even after all of those years, sometimes I could not decide if he was telling the truth or not. He was always coming up with something humorous to say, like calling coworkers to ask if they had their shoes on because naked toes were not a good thing or tell me to “pinch someone on the butt and tell them I said Hi”. He really liked to wait until you were not paying attention and beat on the wall and yell then look at you and smile.

Ken was always trying to make someone else’s life a little brighter. His first thought was usually some kind of food-everything from donuts and kolaches, to pulled pork or brisket, and even Apple Pie. He would come in and tell me he needed more money because he had just given his last $5 to a homeless person and then would say “I know I shouldn’t have because they will probably just go get cigarettes or beer but I did it anyway.”

I kept thinking to myself that I’m not sure what I am going to do without him. I know some ways it will be much easier like not having to stop at the grocery store every other day to get PopTarts but in some ways much harder because my best friend is not with me anymore. After talking to one of my friends she pointed out to me that I was being pretty selfish and instead of whining and crying about what am I going to do without him, I should be celebrating the time we had together. I think that was very sounds advice and going to have to keep reminding myself of that.

I love you, Kenneth, and I know your back doesn’t hurt anymore.

Survivors include his wife, Sharra Weaver; children, Karen Hays and her husband, Herb, of Dewey, Oklahoma; Scott Weaver and his wife, Deborah, of Vidor; and Lindsey Ivy and her husband, Micah, of China; grandchildren, Chelsea Cox of Dewey, Oklahoma, Randi Vice, Kayla Isenhower, Noel Weaver, and Camdon Weaver, all of Vidor, and Russell Ivy of China; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Cord of Dewey, Oklahoma and Bryslin and McKynzie of Vidor.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Frenzel.

A gathering of Mr. Weaver’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His cremation will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Blue Iron LEMC Texas and Blue Santa Program, 12985 Chesnut Lane, Beaumont, Texas 77713. This benefits a non-profit for law enforcement members. Contributions like these help the club have the ability to do things such as adopt special needs classes at Christmas time and surprise the children with presents. One of Kenneth’s favorite things was being able to watch the children’s faces while they got to open these presents.
