Kenton James Romero
Kenton James Romero, 57, of Lumberton, died Friday, April 21, 2023. He was born on October 19, 1965, in Port Arthur, to Sylvia Ann Reaux Romero and Noah Romero.
Kenton James Romero was a husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He gave 21 years of service to the United States Air Force before he retired in 2007. Once he retired from the Air Force he wanted to come back home to settle down and raise our children. He worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department as a corrections officer in 2007 and retired from there in 2021.
He was a man of few words but when he spoke you listened cause you knew he had thought about what he was going to say. He could also make you laugh with his quick witted one-liners till you had tears in your eyes. He was a loyal friend and always showed up to help with whatever needed to be done with no questions asked. Kenton always took pride in being a husband, father, friend, and his service to his country. Kenton’s favorite place to be was on the road putting miles on his motorcycle and taking the scenic route and enjoying the view. He was devoted to his friends and fellow active/veteran service members. He volunteered his time to the local Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, American Legion, and VFW chapters serving as their treasurer. Kenton will forever be loved and cherished by his family and friends. May you ride in peace and know you are always in our hearts.
Survivors include his wife, Kristin Romero; children, Savannah Romero and Noah James Romero all of Lumberton; mother, Sylvia Brown of Lumberton; sisters, Kim Marino and her husband, Carroll, of Pearland; Christine Shelton of Lumberton; Sibyl Shook and her husband, Eddie, of Many, Louisiana; Hope Thibodeaux of Baytown; and Rebecca Tillman of Port Neches. He is preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Romero’s memorial service will 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium. His in-nichement will be at Houston National Cemetery, Houston. In lieu of flowers the memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Romero’s honor to the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, Chapter 13, 2690 Stable Gate Lane, Port Arthur, Texas, to their paypal cvma2313@gmail.com

Kenton was my only son and I will miss him dearly. I’m not one that says “I love you “ but I did tell him while he was in the hospital that I loved him.
His sisters cherished him and spoiled him to no ends.
Each time I see his picture or think too hard of him, the tears roll out of my eyes.
May he be our Lord Jesus Christ.
Kenton you were loved by so many. I had no idea how many organizations you were a part of. You loved your country so much. We had our differences over the years but these last few especially were good years. We got to hang out more than earlier years and every moment with you will be cherished. You were our only brother and your loss will leave a big hole in my heart. I got to see you several times when I lived in Cali and you were in Utah. Those were fun for sure. Fly high brother. I love you dearly. Watch over Kris and the kiddos from up above.

Brother, we drifted apart over the years. We didn’t always mesh. But man o man…we had an awesome relationship when we were kids. You and I were the closest in age. We shared a bedroom when we were kids. Our daddy painted Charlie Brown and Snoopy on the wall. It was so cool. So many great memories…some that were hilarious. I will miss you so much…fly so high brother…I love you
