Kevin Peyton
Kevin Peyton, 67, of Beaumont, Texas, died Wednesday, July 31, 2024. He was born on June 6, 1957, in Beaumont, to Peggy Dunlap Peyton and Patrick Talmage Peyton, Jr.
Kevin was an outdoorsman and loved animals. His dogs frequented Crystal Beach, West End Little League and the Hoffbrau.
He was not a Cajun—because he didn’t get a say in the matter—but knew how to “Laissez les bons temps rouler” and loved the resilient spirit and seafood rich cuisine of his neighbors to the east.
Kevin loved music and taught himself to play drums. His favorite genre was jazz, but he loved to dance to “Play that funky music.”
He could make you laugh, fostering lifelong friends, even if it were your turn to bear the brunt of a legendary prank.
Kevin played soccer at Selwyn High School in Denton, Texas. He attended Lamar University before starting his career in real estate property management and trust banking. He became an Associate Vice President and Trust Officer for Hancock Whitney.
Kevin was an ambassador for his community. He was a Junior Warden for St. Stephens Episcopal Church, a Board Member for Beaumont Main Street, a Member of the Golden Triangle Coastal Conservation Association, coached hundreds of kids, and was a good neighbor and handyman every hurricane season.
He fostered an interest in the ocean with his kids. His favorite moments were fishing and crabbing with his family and dogs at the beach and loved to root for the Texas Longhorns football team with his brothers every fall.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Kathy Peyton; sons, Benjamin Peyton and Samuel Peyton; brothers, Pat Peyton III and his wife, Jill; Stephen Peyton and his wife, Melissa; and Michael Peyton and his wife, Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial contributions for Mr. Peyton may be made to Beaumont Main Street, 505 Orleans, Suite 103, Beaumont, Texas 77701 or St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 4090 Delaware Street, Beaumont, Texas 77706.
