Kh. Louise Hugh Hale Badeen
Kh. Louise Hugh Hale Badeen, 93, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, August 18, 2021. She was born on December 27, 1927, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, to Opal Violet Fields Hale and William Hugh Hale.
Louise enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. She attended Oklahoma College for Women and the University of Oklahoma, studying to be a fashion designer, and enjoyed sewing all her life. Louise assisted her husband at multiple church parishes and in the founding of several missions. A reluctant world traveler, she visited Europe and the Middle East on numerous occasions to assist her husband on assignments with the Antiochian Orthodox Church. She met everyone from Kings to refugees, treating them all equally with the same love and respect she would give a visitor to her own home.
During her life Louise took on guardianship of five nephews during their high school and college years while they relocated from the Middle East to the United States, in addition to giving motherly care to a whole generation of seminary students from around the world. She was a mother to everyone she met always ensuring they were cared for and loved.
Survivors include her daughter, Farida Badeen, of Beaumont; son, George Badeen and his wife, Geralyn, of Northville, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Linda Badeen, of New Hudson, Michigan; grandchildren, Kevin and his wife, Jodie; Dana and her husband, Marijn; John and his wife, Nina; Michael and his wife, Nicole; and Christy; and six great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of sixty-five years, Father John Badeen; and son, Major James Badeen.
A graveside service for Mrs. Badeen will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 23, 2021, at St. Michael’s Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

No words are adequate to express our feelings for Louise but we can try. She was a friend who was there for us. She was family who watched over us. She was the strength and backbone of this family, and its fiercest defender. She was small but mighty. She was honest. She was her own woman, intelligent, loving, observant, and engaged in her family and her world. We still see her reading the Sunday newspaper once she collected, with aggravation, all the sections after we messed it up. She sent me with lists for Eastern Market groceries every Saturday, and made dinner for us after church every Sunday. Nothing was too unimportant to her even ironing my shirts when I went to college. She was a confidant and an advisor at important intervals in our lives.
She may not have understood shanklish but she understood people, and that made her the quintessential wife for her husband in his many capacities in life, from law school to hospital administration to insurance executive and finally (and surprisingly for her) a parish priest and civic leader. She was a private person but conducted herself with grace, dignity and humor in public. She is gone now but will always be carried with us in our hearts. I hope that your suffering is over Aunt Louise and that your at home now. Some of my best memories are of being at your house and St. George’s as a little girl. You always made me feel loved every time I saw you. Spending time with you and the family you gave us all was and is a wonderful gift. I admire your honesty and your kindness. Without you and Fr. John I don’t know that my parents would have met or that my dad would have found his way here without you. Thank you so much. May your memory be eternal.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of this wonderful woman. She was loving, gentil, dignified and a staunch defender of her family and her faith. She always displayed a mother’s love toward us when we were children growing up at St. Michael’s. May her Memory be Eternal! My sincere condolences and prayers go out to the family.
