Kimberly "Kim" Williamson McAtee

August 6, 1968 - July 19, 2021

Kimberly Williamson McAtee was born on August 6, 1968, in Beaumont, Texas to Charlotte and Albert Williamson. She was the beloved eldest daughter of a close and loving family.

Kim grew up in a lively and joyful home in Southeast Texas surrounded by family and friends. Doted on by her parents and adored by her little sister Kristin, together the girls filled their idyllic youthful days with a mix of activities, pretend play and a dash of mischief. Always hand in hand, the sisters approached life’s triumphs and disappointments as a formidable duoand never wavered in their devotion to each other.

As a cheerful student at St. Anne Catholic School and Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School, Kim was a popular classmate known for her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. While she enjoyed dance lessons, team sports and Lucky Clover 4H Club, her passion for her backyard menagerie was one of her most endearing hobbies. Most importantly, Kim possessed the unique ability to be a compassionate friend and confidante early on and continued to share that gift with others throughout her entire life.

On the beautiful day of May 20, 1995, Kim would marry the love of her life, John McAtee. A defining moment for both, the happy couple would soon welcome their cherished daughters Jane Ellen and Katherine and embark on a life together filled with love, laughter and mutual respect. Exceedingly proud of her husband and her two daughters, it is through Kim’s benevolence, compassion and strength that John and the girls would ultimately become Kim’s most protective and tender caregivers.

A faithful servant, Kim found fulfillment through her work at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church as the Director of Children’s Ministries, as a volunteer and past Co-Chairman of the annual Chili Supper & Bazaar and during her seven years as a member of Bible Study Fellowship where she served as a group leader. In October 2011, a handwritten letter by her grandfather Moodye Williamson charged Kim with the following:

“Honey, I have loved you differently-but no less at all. Your soul-my child is deep and your strength is more than what most people realize. I love you and I will always be watching out for you. Go and do those things on your mind-I will be right there with you loving the adventure. God bless you honey always.”

The question presented an opportunity for Kim to consider and ultimately accept an invitation to teach and lead. With great responsibility, Kim went forth and through Sunday classes, enriched the spiritual growth of many in our community as a Bible Study for Life Teacher at St. Mark’s.

However, what Kim most treasured was her time spent with family and friends. Fondly known as “Kimmy”, she was the beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, cousin, friend and mentor who’s perseverance during her illness served as a testament to her faith and an inspiration to those who knew and loved her.

Kim is survived by her husband of twenty-six years, John McAtee, their daughters Jane Ellen and Katherine McAtee, her parents Charlotte and Albert Williamson, her sister Kristin Beal and her husband Trey, her sister-in-law Nancy McGrade and her husband Steve McGrade, nephews Kyle Beal, Jordan Beal, Blake Beal, Harris McGrade and niece Zan McGrade.

Blessed with an extraordinary life, she is now reunited with her grandparents Francis Dickerson, Denis Duplantier, and Jane and Moodye Williamson and her aunt and uncle Suzy and Denis Duplantier.

As a family, we would like to thank Kim’s circle of friends who during our greatest time of need, offered their tireless love, dedication and devotion to the care and comfort of our beloved Kim. Your support will never be forgotten.

John, I can't tell you how much my heart is hurting for you and the girls. I know Kim was the love of your life and the greatest mom the girls could have ever dreamed of having. Kim was the most precious lady I've ever known. She truly had a heart of gold that she freely shared. I've always loved my John in a special way and knew his Kim had to be a very special gal. Once I had the chance to get to know her I found that to be true. Y'all were such a very special couple. I've loved the many pictures of you and your girls on facebook. My love and prayers are with you and your girls. If there is anything I can do to help y'all I would be blessed.

John, as I sit here wanting to write this to you and your girls, it is so difficult for the words to come. I remember the first time I met Kim. At a mutual friend's house for July 4th 2001. When you and Kim walked in, I thought what a beautiful young wife you had. Her innocence was so apparent in her presence. We all had a lot of fun that day. And, I have been blessed throughout the years to have been in many different gatherings together. And, of course to be fellow worshippers at St. Mark's. It has not sunk in yet that I won't see her sweet smiling face some where along the way. My heart cries!!! Just know that I love you all so very much and if there is anything I can do to help, please do not hesitate to call me. My prayers are going up, without ceasing, for the Lord to comfort, carry and heal you, the girls and all of your family.

Tom and Julie Munro

With love and sympathy to all the family. Kim was precious.
