Kirt Joseph Gentile

September 22, 1956 - October 25, 2020

Kirt Joseph Gentile, 64, of LaBelle, died Sunday, October 25, 2020. He was born on September 22, 1956, to Jada Sue Williams Gentile and Jimmie Joseph Gentile, in Port Arthur. Kirt is a 1974 graduate of Nederland High School and was a member of Pipefitters Local 195.

He has worked for A&B Builders, now known as Richard Construction, Inc, since 1994. His love for his work family is enormous.

Kirt can be described as Steel and Velvet…he was tough, gritty, and resilient. But he was also generous, caring, loyal, and loved fiercely.

He is a proud Christian, ACTS Brother, and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fannett.

He and his wife, Tricia, ventured into the restaurant business in 1997 when they leased an existing business in LaBelle, Texas, and renamed it Mae’s On The Bayou. With the help of friends, he built a catering trailer and would give his time to different fundraisers and memorial events. When a fire destroyed the business in 2006, they continued in the food industry doing catering as Tricia’s full-time job and Kirt always on the sidelines when he wasn’t working his regular job.

He was the favorite uncle who “got your leg”.

Kirt was a member and served on the Board of Krewe Mon Ami of MGSET for several years. In his duty of coordinating the parade every year, his monthly report would always be, “We’re going to have a parade”.

One of his greatest joys was going to all of his granddaughter’s animal shows. He was such a proud Paw Paw of all his red-heads.

Five years ago, he became a father again when he and Tricia took custody of their great-niece, Kadience, and their great-nephew, Jaden.

Survivors include his wife, Tricia Waite Gentile; father, Jimmie Gentile and his wife, Claudia, of Beaumont; mother, Jada Williams Gentile of Nederland; sons, Jeremy Gentile and his wife, Michaelyn, of Winnie and Jaden Harst of LaBelle; daughter, Kadience Francois of LaBelle; brothers, Steve Gentile and his wife, Julie; Brian Gentile and his wife, Stacey; and Kenneth Gentile, all of Nederland; sister, Jamie Gentile Pace and her husband, Eddie, of Port Neches; granddaughters, Desiré Boyd, Jillian Gentile, and Paisley Gentile, all of Winnie; bonus daughter, Jami Quibodeaux of Groves; and several beloved nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.

A celebration of Mr. Gentile’s life will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, November 1, 2020, at the family’s home 14860 Garner Road, Beaumont, Texas 77705.

His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486 or St. Mary Catholic Church, 9894 Gilbert Road, Beaumont, Texas 77705.

Sending prayers! Kirk will be missed, he was such a larger than life soul! I really enjoyed visiting with him at our girls dinner, for class of 74. We told him that night could be one of the girls! Who would have known it would be the last time I would see him....Much love to the family!!

Mr. Kirt was a very good boss to have. I remember well working at Mae's on the Bayou for Kirt and Tricia. My funniest memory is him looking dead serious at me and saying "you don't get something done today you might find my boot...." Then he would grin and tell me "you're doing a good job...." Those were the days and Mr. Kirt was a boss and a friend. May the Lord put his hand of comfort on Tricia and the whole family as Kirt is in God's Heaven with no pain or sorrow. Memory Eternal.

Gwen Haggard
