Larry Dale Walls
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Larry Dale Walls, who left us peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the age of 67 after an epic four-year battle with colon cancer. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Larry lived a life rich with passion and dedication to his community and family.
Larry was born May 26, 1957, in Gladewater, to Betty Ann Moody Walls and James Franklin Walls. He grew up in Lewisville, Texas, where he graduated and attended respiratory therapy school. Larry was a long-time resident of Winnie, Texas, before moving to Nederland, where he spent the later part of his life.
Larry had an exceptional work ethic and held a variety of jobs throughout his career. He began working at a golf course and at Gibsons before pursuing a career as a respiratory therapist. He later transitioned to a role as a purchasing agent, starting with Sun Oil Company, which brought him to Winnie, Texas. Larry then spent many years at Flexitallic Gasket Company before finishing his career at Lamons Gasket as the Director of Global Sourcing, where he eventually retired. He took great pleasure in his work, which allowed him to travel the world and form lasting friendships with people from many different countries.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Larry found joy and solace in the great outdoors. His enthusiasm for the natural world was matched only by his commitment to preserving it. As a proud and active member of Winnie-Stowell Ducks Unlimited, he not only supported conservation efforts but also played a key role in hosting banquets that brought people together for a common cause.
His spirit of service extended beyond his environmental contributions. Larry was a valued former member of the Winnie Stowell Volunteer Fire Department and dedicated himself to the Voluntary EMS, in his earlier years offering his time and expertise to ensure the safety and well-being of his neighbors.
Larry cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. His love for them was evident in the way he engaged in their lives, creating lasting memories through shared adventures and heartfelt moments. He could often be found baiting a hook for them on his pond at “Gramp’s Camp” or leading his grandchildren down the creek, sharing his love for nature and the simple pleasures of life with those he cherished most. He was also known for sneaking sweet treats to them when no one was watching.
Larry was endlessly generous with his family, always ensuring they were well taken care of. He was the first to offer help, whether by offering a loan, providing essential equipment for a sporting event, or simply giving thoughtful advice. His commitment to enriching their lives was evident in the countless ways he supported and uplifted those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Brigid Walls; children, Stephanie Quave and husband, Bruce; Mathew Walls and wife, Dr. Ali Walls; Master Sgt. Benjamin “B.J.” Hopper and wife, Ana; and Kasey Nichols and husband, Blake; Ryan Richard, father of Adison and Ayden Richard; other grandchildren, Mason Walls, Noah Walls; step-grandchildren, Jasper Quave, Colby Quave, Taylor Miller, Camren Nichols, Baylor Nichols, Bianca Boncea, Maria Forsee, and Sophia Forsee; brother, Donald Walls and wife, Mary; sister, Deborah McWhirter and husband, Don; aunt, Margaret Page; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who will deeply miss his wisdom, humor, and unwavering support.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

Larry meant so much to me as a colleague and mentor in the years we worked together. His memory will be with me always.
Janet & I want to extend our sincerest condolences to Brigid and the rest of Larry’s family and friends. The times we spent together in Jacksonville were some of the best. Larry was a great man and fought a valiant fight. He will be missed. Sorry we can’t be there in person, but we will be there in spirit.
Stephanie,
You and your family are in my heart and prayers. Peace be with you all.
We knew Larry and his immediate family for 40+ years, and his death breaks our hearts. He was a wonderful, very friendly guy who loved a good time, hunting, fishing, having a beer with friends from time to time, life in general. At one time, Larry lived with us, “temporarily”, and oh the stories he and Fred would tell. In later years, he kept in touch, called often, always had good things to say.
Fred and I will truly miss hearing from him. Keep in touch Brigid. Our hearts are with Larry and entire family.
Fred and Sandy Rosser

Love, Katherine and Aunt Margaret.
As a branch manager for Lamons for many years. I was fortunate to work on many special projects with Larry, traveling to countries like Brazil & England, just to name a couple. We always had a great working relationship & he was a great supporter of all Lamons branch managers. He will be missed. Lord, make room for a special person & friend.
Oh Brigid…I’m so sorry to hear this sad news. You both fought a long hard battle, and you were his rock. Asking for the Peace that passes understanding to surround you & your family. Sending love & prayers. 🙏💐
