Larry Gene Rivers
Larry Gene Rivers, 74, of Silsbee, died Friday, November 8, 2024. He was born on October 6, 1950, in Burlington, Kansas, to Rosalyn Jean Thompson Rivers and Gene Lee Rivers.
L.G. was known for his kind, loving, caring, and humorous personality. He was a pure joy to everyone who knew him.
After High School, L.G. worked his way up from a welder/pipe fitter to a Procurement Manager until his retirement, where he was highly respected by his colleagues and had an immense amount of friendships he made along the way.
During his retirement L.G. loved to spend time with friends and family and had a strong desire to travel. He loved fishing and when he wasn’t fishing, he often talked about being on the water. More than anything, he loved to read and could always be found with a book.
L.G. was a friend to all. His infectious spirit and kind heart touched everyone he met. He had a way of making people feel special, and his presence was a gift to all who knew him. He never met a stranger.
Survivors include his children, Lori Rivers of Silsbee; Coby Weinzel of Pasadena; Crystal Bower of Irwin, Pennsylvania; Angie Boone and her husband, Justin, of Baytown; and Rebecca Rivers of Bloomington, Indiana; nine grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Park and her husband, Bill, of Heaverer, Oklahoma; Beverly Mayo and her husband, Freddie, of Spiro, Oklahoma; Sharon Jackson and her husband, Scott, of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Robin Rivers-Prophet and her husband, Michael, of Greenwood, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert Rivers.
A gathering of Mr. Rivers’ family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2024, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His interment to follow at Hardin Memorial Park, Silsbee.
