Lawrence Clayton "Clay" Abshier

February 18, 1971 - February 7, 2021

Lawrence Clayton Abshier, 49, of Vidor, died Sunday, February 7, 2021. He was born on February 18, 1971 to Laura Abernathy Abshier and Lawrence Edmond Abshier, Jr., in Liberty.

Survivors include his daughter, Lena Abshier, of Vidor; son Colton Abshier, of Vidor; mother, Laura Abernathy Tidwell, of Winnie; sisters, Tammy Coots and her husband, Tommy, Tinna Blacksher and her husband, Kirk, all of Winnie; Marilyn Abshier and Jake Rodgers, of Fannett; Kellie Sole and her husband, Brandon, of Magnolia; honorary sister, Lynna Abernathy-Stephenson; aunts, Annette Abernathy of Anahuac and Alice Dawson of Brookeland; uncle, James Abernathy and his wife, Sandy, of San Marcos; Jackie Abernathy, of Magnolia, James Richey and his wife, Juanita, of Hankamer, and Eugene Langford and his wife, Mable, of Anahuac; nieces and nephews, T.J. Coots and his wife, Megan, of Winnie; Ashley Coots and Ty Mullins, of Winnie, Natasha Blacksher and Casey Craigen, of Fannett; and Hailey and Noah Sole, of Magnolia; great-nieces and nephews, Troy Coots, Logan Coots, Makayla Cravy, Kennedi Mullins, and Logan Mullins, all of Winnie; Kadince Jones and Wyatt Craigen, both of Fannett; and many cousins and friends that loved him very much.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Edmond Abshier, Jr.; uncles, Dale Edward Abernathy, David Allen Abernathy, and Roger Abshier; aunts, Pamela Abshier and Dessie Pate; and cousins, Stacie Abshier, Brenda Abshier, James Abernathy, Roger Abshier and David Bertrand.

A gathering of Mr. Abshier’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2021 at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Broussard’s, Beaumont, followed by his interment at Abshier Cemetery, Devers.
