Lea Wilson Hay
Lea Wilson Hay, 68, of Beaumont, died Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital, Beaumont. She was born on August 5, 1953, in Houston, to Lillian Liebel Wilson Schubert and Ronald Wilson.
Survivors include her son, Jason Hay and his wife, Jennifer, of Lake Charles, Louisiana; brother, Thomas Wilson and his wife, Melinda, of Austin; and grandchildren, Collin Hay, Cooper Hay, and Ryan Purkey.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Purkey; father, Ronald Wilson; and step father and mother, Jack and Lillian Schubert.
A gathering of Mrs. Hay’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

I met Leah at Life Share. Our biweekly visits meant a lot to me and I loved for her to do my sticking…i never felt it. Please know I am praying for her family during this time!
To Jason,Tom, and all family members. You were blessed to have Lea as a family member in the many roles she had with each of you. Lea and I met each other years ago through our then Veternarian. She gave 110% to every task she took on. She started out as my pet sitter even transporting my pets out of state when I had to remain at my job during Hurricane Rita. Then she adopted 3 kittens from my fathers cat to keep them from being separated. When I moved my father from his home to a private assisted living home in northeast Beaumont, Lea delivered a newspaper to him every morning before she went to work. Her cheerful greeting and thoughtfulness brightened his long day of his then sedentary life. And then there was the time she volunteered to assist me in cleaning out and organizing my garage so the car could be housed in it. We would catch up on each other’s life after periods of not having time by going to eat, sometimes crying in our tea or water and it always ended by her remark, “I love you, talk to you later.” She even texted that when she recovered from her illness she wanted to “catch up.” I know she fought that 110% to stay with us all especially her “close knit small family” (her words) but Our Maker decided it was time for her in his kingdom. I am saddened by the passing of Lea from this side of heaven. As a platelet donor, Lea has stuck me many times through the years. When we visited at LifeShare, it was easy to see how much her family meant to her. Cherish the memories. I am certainly appreciative of the time Lea was in my life.

Lea was the best mother in a law a girl could hope for. She loved everyone in her life and we loved her. Thank you for being you Lea.

Our hearts are broken over the loss of our friend and coworker. She WAS FAMILY TO US! She was smart, dedicated, had a kind heart and a fiery spirit at the same time. She made me laugh so many times! She also annoyed the crap out of me ONLY because she was such a rule follower and that just goes against everything in me! ????She knew it too and couldn’t have cared less. I know she loved me and I loved her and I miss her!
She was an amazing woman. I love ms hay. She was a kind person I can ever meet. I cut her grass over the years and I wanted to make her happy. I will sure miss her. Rest In Peace.
