Leta Irene Stringer

Leta Irene Stringer, 97, of Nederland, died Friday, July 30, 2021. She was born on July 11, 1924, in Ranger, Texas to Lee Tarwater and John Henry Sells.

Leta was a long-time resident of Port Neches, Vidor and Nederland. She was retired from the S&H Green Stamp store in Beaumont where she was the manager for many years. She loved to read, crochet and was an avid bird watcher. Leta loved her Lord and Savior Jesus and was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her sons; Stephen McQueen, and his wife, Susan, of Nederland; David A. McQueen and his wife, Mary, of Berkley, California; Joseph R. LeBlanc and his wife, Jo Helen, of Florida; and Floyd LeBlanc and his wife, Theresa, of Dayton; daughter, Jean McQueen-Hawthorne and her husband, Herb; stepchildren, Donald Stringer; Geraldine Chesser, and her husband, Don; and Bobby Stringer; nineteen grandchildren; two step grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Leta is preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Mable Sells; husbands, Willard J. LeBlanc and Flavil H. Stringer; siblings, James Alton Sells; Mary L. Humphreys; sons, Michael Ray McQueen and Gerald Keith McQueen; daughter, Nina L. LeBlanc; stepsons, Percy M. LeBlanc and Michael Stringer.

A graveside service for Mrs. Stringer will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, 618 Block, Port Neches, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
