Linda Goodson Kelly
Linda Goodson Kelly passed away on November 27, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas. Linda was born on January 19, 1948, in Port Arthur, Texas to J.T. (Johnny) Goodson and Ruth Goodson, and was welcomed home by her big sister, Gwen. Linda grew up in Port Acres and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. She went on to attend Port Arthur College, where she obtained her secretarial certification.
Job opportunities took Linda to Houston, and then on to California, where she lived in the Los Angeles area for many years. After a brief relocation to Boston, Linda returned to the Beaumont area, where she reunited with a former beau and the love of her life, James B. Kelly.
Linda and Jim were married in August of 1993 and they retired to Brenham, Texas, where they proceeded to live their best lives. Jim and Linda traveled the world, devoutly followed the Texas Aggies, and relished living in the bluebonnet fields of Brenham.
Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Jim; and her parents, J.T. (Johnny) Goodson and Ruth Goodson. She is survived by her sister, Gwen Boudreaux; her favorite brother-in-law, E.J. Boudreaux; daughter-in-law, Sonia Kelly; granddaughter, Katelyn Kelly; niece, Michelle Hopson; and nephews, Kirk Boudreaux and Scott Boudreaux.
The family will have a small graveside service at the Aggie Field of Honor, Memorial Cemetery of College Station, where Linda’s remains will be buried with her husband, Jim. Cremation arrangements for Mrs. Kelly were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
