Lou Ella McDonald
Lou Ella McDonald, 88, of Beaumont, died Thursday, January 26, 2023. She was born on August 22, 1934, to Sally Davis Beard and Elmo Reed Beard, in Beaumont.
Lou Ella was a teacher. Right out of college, she taught first grade at Nederland for 9 years. She moved to the South Park school district to teach at the School for the Deaf. Lou Ella completed 25 years of teaching at Vincent Middle School in reading and composition. At her retirement party, she was very touched to see all five principals from the schools she worked for over the years walking together to her party.
Mom instructed me to tell her family and friends, she loves them!
Survivors include her children, Sharon Flanagan and her husband, Bruce and Reed McDonald, all of Beaumont; grandson, Jordan Flanagan and his wife, Suzanne; great-grandchildren, Maddox and Hensley; sister, Patsy Copeland; and nieces, Sally Young and Shelly Remeny.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, B.J. McDonald.
A gathering of Mrs. McDonald’s family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.
Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of one’s choice.

Mrs. McDonald was my first grade teacher in 1979. I have often thought of her through the years. She was the best! Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
She was one of my all-time favorite teachers. Prayers for the family.
I’m saddened to hear about Mrs. McDonald. She was one of my favorite teachers at Vincent Jr High. I will always remember when I was in sixth grade at lunch time I would eat junk food and drink coke and not hot cafeteria food they served. One day she saw me and got on to me about how important it was to eat healthy and not the junk I was eating and how better I would feel. She was strict but fair and caring. I always thought of her as kinda like a mother just like Mrs. Leon too. I believe she play a big role when I was young to put me on the right track for life that was ahead of me. I feel privileged to have known you but more privileged to have you as one of my teachers. This country needs more teachers like you.
