Lucy Nell Mitchell

November 6, 1955 - February 20, 2021

Lucy Nell Mitchell, of Orange, was a caring, wife; daughter; sister; stepmother; and godmother. She transitioned into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior suddenly on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the age of 65. Lucy was a resident of Brookdale Dowlen Oaks in Beaumont, Texas.

Lucy was born November 6, 1955, in Orange, to Annie Alma Renaud and Robert George Mitchell. After graduating from Lutcher Stark High School, Class of 1974, in Orange, Texas, Lucy who loved children, attended Lamar University and majored in pre-med. Her love for children, math, and science led her to begin a career in teaching through daycare and substitute teaching within West Orange Cove Independent School District. Lucy chased her dreams to follow in the footsteps of her father and began a career at Dupont Sabine River Works, currently known as Dow, where she met the love of her life, Horace Joseph Boudreaux Jr. and later retired after many dedicated years of service.  

Lucy not only loved math and science, but she also loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals and gardening. She had a love for trucks and listening to music, especially, Prince and Whitney Houston. Lucy was named after her grandmother and she was very proud of that. Her dogs, or “babies” as she referred to them, were very dear and special to her. Above all else, she will be remembered for her love and compassion for all people.

Survivors include her father, Robert George Mitchell, of Orange; siblings, Patsy Robinson and husband, Larry, of California; Rose Floyd, of Orange; Claire Mitchell, of Houston; Jackie Mitchell, of California; Eric Mitchell and wife, Deborah; Michael Mitchell and wife, Donna; Mark Mitchell and wife, Elizabeth; Herbert Winston and wife, Deborah, all of Orange; and Joseph Mitchell and wife, Ingrid, of California; goddaughter/niece, Ebony Mitchell; nephews, Bryant Mitchell; Shawn Mitchell and wife, Stelleshia; John Mitchell; Quentyn Mitchell; and Kevin Anderson and wife, Lashon; godson, Willie Wingfield; and a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Annie Renaud; husband, Horace Joseph Boudreaux, Jr.; sister, Gwendolyn Hubert Anderson; and brothers, Ronald Mills and Robert Mitchell.

Cremation arrangements for Mrs. Mitchell will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
