Lurlene Morrison Alexander
Lurlene Morrison Alexander, 81, of Beaumont died Tuesday August 12, 2025. She was born on February 28, 1944, in Nederland, to Verdie Berlie Smith Morrison and Starlin Green Morrison.
Lurlene grew up in Nederland and was a long time resident of Beaumont. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and co-owner of Smith Belting & Electric Supply Company in Beaumont.
Lurlene loved cooking, crafting, sewing, entertaining and gospel music. She was a legendary cook and when she wasn’t cooking, she was always willing to throw a party, shower, wedding or reception. She was always first to lend a hand with any function for family and friends. She was a lover of gospel music. Her and her husband Travis would travel with family and friends around east Texas listening to southern gospel music which she enjoyed immensely. She never met a stranger and was genuinely interested in people. She would always keep her family in the know regarding family and friends and probably did this better than any type of social media.
Lurlene loved her family and friends, each and every one of them. She always showed this in her willingness to host gatherings with family and friends. She was a true believer in the old saying “families and friends that play together, stay together”.
Survivors include her children, Ethel Bulgherini and her husband, Joseph; Rosa Cegielski; and Mark Alexander and his wife, Heather; grandchildren, Christopher Mazzu and his wife, Madoka; Justin Cegielski; Jaclyn King and her husband, Caleb; Benjamin Bulgherini and his wife, Katie; Brittani Moran and her husband, Caden; and Abigail Alexander; great-grandchildren, Myah, Reina, Nash, Kaito, and Tessa; sister in-law, Carolyn Morrison; and brother-in-law, John Alexander and his wife, Shirley.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Verdie Morrison and Starlin Morrison; husband, Travis Alexander Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, Dwain Morrison and Martha Morrison; and brother, James Morrison.
A gathering of Mrs. Alexander’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with her funeral services at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.

My condolences to the family. I have fond memories of Lurlene. She sewed washcloths & blankets for both of my babies, and she made a Raggedy Ann doll for my daughter.
