Luz Oruga

March 1, 1948 - February 20, 2021

Luz “Luzviminda” O. Oruga, “Lucy” as she is fondly called, transitioned into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the age of 72. She was born on March 1, 1948 to Ana Esquivel and Justino Oruga in Calamba Laguna, Philippines.

Lucy is survived by her husband Cornelio M. Oruga, they were married for fifty-five years. On August 17, 1966. They migrated in the USA in 2002 and lived here in Beaumont since then. Lucy will be remembered for her love for her husband, children, grandchildren, great children.

Lucy and Cornelio had five children of which she survives four as follows: daughter, Lilibeth Oruga Cayetano and her husband, Laurence, of Beaumont; son, Ronald Allan Oruga and his wife, Rowena Del Rosario, of the Philippines; daughters, Cherry Ann Oruga and her husband, James Romano of New Jersey and Ma. Corryluz Oruga, of Beaumont.

Lucy’s brother, Reynaldo Oruga and his wife, Angelita, of San Jose, California; sisters, Marina Oruga Laccay and her husband, Lope and Trinidad Oruga Tapia, all of the Philippines.

Lucy’s leaves fourteen grandchildren, Denyse Camille Oruga, Kristin Rae Oruga, Rei Vincent Oruga; Ivan Vincent Cayetano and wife Laura Rodriguez, Ian Nicoli Cayetano, Izak Vladimir Cayetano, Lauren Elizabeth Cayetano; Raphe’el Cedric Oruga and wife Stella Serania, Ron Michael Oruga, Rona Angelica Oruga, Edward Joshua Maullon, Jonathan Maullon ; Justin Carl Oruga, Florence Cielo Lammatao, Kristan Jalapit, and Hazel Bianca Morillo; two great-grandchildren, Haven Felisse Oruga and Josef Achilles Oruga.

She is preceded in death by her son, Reymilh Oruga; her sister, Elena Capunpon; and brother, Gemiliano Oruga.

A Christian Vigil for Mrs. Oruga will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2021, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 27, 2021 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. Cremation arrangements will be handled by Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
