Lynette Gay Layton
Lynette Gay Layton, 68, of Lumberton, died Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Christus St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. She was born on June 3, 1953, in Jennings, Louisiana, to Effie Newman and John Eldridge Epperly.
Lynnette was an avid reader, enjoyed bible study, and watching westerns. She will be remembered for her appreciation of etiquette and proper English. She will live in hearts forever as a loving wife, mother, and Grammar to her grandchildren.
Lynette is survived by her husband of thirty-five years, Paul Layton, of Lumberton; daughters, Kemilee Shavers and her husband, Kyle, of Silsbee and Kalyn Cryer and her husband, Matthew, of Lumberton; sons, Kade Layton and his wife, Laura, of Abington, Maryland and Jordan Torrent, of Houston; grandchildren, Kennedy, Cameron, and Lane; sister, Wendy Leprettre and her husband, Donald, of Opelika, Alabama; and multiple family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A gathering of Mrs. Layton’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with a celebration of life service at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Please observe social distancing guidelines.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

Lynette was my best friend for many years. A true confidant. We had so many laughs together.. She loved to watch Christmas movies! She loved my kids as if they were her own grandchildren. We were at her house practically every day for 3 years straight. I will always remember her laugh and her quick smile. Her birthday is the same day as my anniversary.. We would always call each other at the same time and wish each other well. I will miss her more than words can say. Until we meet again. ♥️
It’s been a long time since Lynette and I connected, but I always will remember the fun times we had at Westgate CoC and our day trip to Jennings to have lunch with her dad. Lynette was a Christian first, wife and mother second, and crazy friend third. She splashed joy on anyone who got near her! She will be missed. Jackie Holton
