At the age of nineteen, Margaret traveled with her future sister-in-law, Roberta Defran, to New York City. Soon after she moved her new family back to Texas where she raised all six of her children.

She was a founding member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and was actively involved in the growth of the church. She was lifetime member of the St Pius choir.  Margaret was an active member of the community through programs like The Melody Maids, Saint Pius Ladies, as a CCD teacher, volunteering at Some Other Place, The Happy Steppers and with the adoption of a Kindergarten Class just to name a few.

Survivors include her children, Elizabeth Grayson and her husband, Chip; Mary Margaret Cutshall and her husband, Gary; Katherine Barton and her husband, Tom; Christine Anzell and her husband, Ken Carrell; Ted Anzell; and Juliana Anzell; grandchildren, Christopher Cutshall and his wife, Jessica; Brandon Cutshall and his wife, Chelsea; Nathan Cutshall and his wife, Vanessa; Thomas Barton and his wife, Barbara; Angela Martindale and her husband, Andrew; Joshua Jennings and his wife, Ashley; Justina Beard and her husband, Ryan; and Jude Anzell; great-grandchildren, Caylee, Katie, Payton, Carlie, Natalie, Peyton, Oliver, Lily, Wyatt, Quintin, Layne, Kennedy, Witten, and Knox; sister, Naomi Toujan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

I will forever cherish the day I was tested (by the Anzell sisters) with the challenge of styling their Momma’s hair... in such a manner, evidently sufficient for her big 90th Birthday Celebration. It was a lot of pressure! So I busted out my very best French twist updo and will never forget her smile and the sparkle in her eye that let me know I had passed the test. ☺️ I only knew her a short time, but felt her love, nonetheless , especially for her children. Watching her face light up every time they walked in the room was a true testimony of a Mother’s love.
